Is HP Reverb G2 now as good as a brick?

I have a G2 gathering dust. My son had it awhile but santa brought him Quest 3 so after that it has not been used. From what I understood WMR support is not there anymore. I would like to put it in ebay or something, but it has no sense if some casual buyer buys it and raises a hell, because it is not working. Is there a use scenario for it (linux maybe) that someone might actually be interested in it and gets a value for his money? I am really thinking about putting some pointers into the description that people would get an idea that it might not be unproblematic, but if you put some work on it, you might get it to run ... somewhere ... somehow.

Or should I just dump it?

It is sad that all those wmr headset around are going to go extinct by no fault of their own.
One can only hope that an alternative software from some third-party comes along and give those wmr headsets some life support plug.

It is actually Windows 11 24h update that is discontinuing wmr. Someone still on windows 11 23h and windows 10 would be able to use those class of headsets.

It is good you put that expiring clause there so the buyer will be guided.

I finally sold my beloved G2 back in March. Got $130 for it plus $19 for shipping (mine was in near mint condition though). For the money spent and features provided, the G2 was my favorite headset since I began playing with VR back in 2016.

I replaced my G@ with a Quest 3 a couple months ago when Windows 10 update 2077 came out and stopped G2 from working.  You would have to delete that update to get the G2 to work.

My G2 still working on Win10 with all updates installed.

Turn off the security features in your bios that win 11 requires for an update and it will tell you your Win 11 is ineligible to upgrade to the latest version.  You can stay on 23 forever and still get updates.

My G2 still works perfectly with Windows 11 23H2. As long as MS continues to update 23 and provide security features and your G2 works, there is no need to upgrade.
