Hi. So I am reading horror stories about the nvidia drivers. I'm planing upon buying a nvidia 5080 or 5090.

So I'm just asking how gamers flying dcs, mainly fc3, are doing with the nvidia drivers and the 5080 or 5090?

Is your gaming stable? Any problems?

Thanks.

Yes, I heard tones of issues were caused by the previous versions of NV drivers.

NV has released the recent driver to fix the blank screen, unable to read GPU temp... stuffs.  It should be a major fix.

I saw that few users post their DCS test with 5080 with their test metrics (thanks for their information).  I think that the previous drivers may not affect to these users.

There is one of threads:

I don’t have a 50-series card, but I’ve had issues with my 4080Super and the last few drivers, yes.

I have noticed two things:

- my graphics card fans would ramp up to 100% seemingly at random (they are LOUD!);

- I’ve had artefacts while sky is being rendered. But this was only during the first time DCS loaded after clearing fxo/metashaders.

Right now I’m running the hot fix driver (thanks to Jayztwocents for making a video about it), and this one runs alright.

Mind you, I’m not using 3rd party polling software so I didn’t run into the temperature issue - besides, both Sleep and Hibernation are disabled on my computer.

No issues that I have noticed up to 576.02. I've not tried 576.15 yet.

Tried 576.02 and 576.15 after that. Both gave me black screens. To the point when I could not even go to BIOS screen for a while. Had to go back to 572.83 when after a several tries I could see something for a while. But it was also connected to the last W11 update. I had to go back there as well

Now it's OK for me. Not even one black screen for a week. But it does not mean all Nvidia drivers are bad. S...t happens sometimes

I wonder why it's working for me and not you!? Maybe success with today's driver.

Why? No idea. It's the mystery of the computers. Different CPU, MB, Widows update or other drivers or a million other things.

But I am happy for now and not so eager to try the new drivers. Maybe in a few days/weeks 🙂. Unless I hear they are bringing in something new (as in improvements)

I've been testing 576.28 for a few hours now, and I didn't have any of the problems I had with the previous versions - so far that is.
Graphics card fans are no longer attempting to lift my case off the ground, and sky rendering was flawless too.

I mean, that would actually be pretty cool if we one day could take off for real! 🤪

No addition heater is needed, especially for the coming summer time 🙂

Hi. Any news how dcs is running with nvidia 5080 or 5090?

Because the drivers seem wack

Using the latest drivers with my 5080, no issues.

If you’re having issues, do remember to have cleared out your Metashaders and FXO folders, along with updating the settings using NVPI if you’re using the latest version of DLSS 4.

7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

5080 works fine with latest driver. I've had no issues with earlier drivers either.

I'm going to stick with 576.28 for now. That one works perfectly well and I see no reason to update to 576.40 🤷‍♀️

Ok great. So how much frames per second do you get at 4k with your nvidia 5080?

Between 45 and 230. Depending on Settings and Scene.....

Seriously, the question, phrased that way, can't get a sraight answer. You can easily reach 120 fps for the most part, which is all you'll ever need in a flight sim. In those occasions, where you don't reach 120 fps, no amount of GPU would probably help, because the limiting factor is something else. Like CPU or game engine.

It's been one of the most difficult builds I have ever had since the 1980s. It's all down to the combo of Win11 & Nvidia driver, a 9950X3D + RTX5080 build.

It's not unheard of to have to reinstall the OS multiple times for a build, and I had a share of them. The difficulty this time is that it just crashes without leaving an OS event, except a dump. Now, unless you are an MS Windows engineer with access to their source code, which some of my neighbors probably do, the dump file is useless to us. So, I am reverted back to Asus motherboard QCode and guess.

The blank screen randomly, even with the latest Nvidia driver just released 2 days ago didn't help. In fact, the latest just crashed the OS. Hell... the damned Nvidia App crashed the OS while installing the latest GAME READY driver! And then the OSD wouldn't work, etc. etc. There were even an AMD and ITEC USB update failed to install, etc..... until I did the Window cumulative update twice! So, somethings got patched once, and twice, and the order of the patches/drivers installation matters! WTF??? I have never seen crap like this since the 80's!

I have finally stabilized it... but it's been a shooting in the blind affair.... and I don't like that.

Anyway, if you are going this way, I advise that you install Win11, patch everything to the gill, and install "all other" drivers before you do the Nvidia thing. Some of you might argue that this is the "right" order of installation... not really... depending on how you get here. In the olden days of Windows installation leaving you with default 640x480 VGA resolution, and some of their stupid pop up dialog box were longer than 480 pixels... the very first thing you do after the OS is up is to install new gfx drivers so you can see the dialog boxes' entirety! Plus, usually the gfx driver was the least troublesome one to install. I mean, it has to work, or you see nothing and nothing can be done... until recently that is.
