I feel the ww2 genre is lacking quite a bit, will we ever be getting more planes like the Ju88, Stuka, Lancaster bomber and B17? I know some of these are ai controlled but it would be nice to get some playable versions

3rd party La-7 and Corsair are in development, but DCS WWII is quite slow indeed, not to say dead. I definitely would not expect bombers ever the way things are going.

Development appears to have ended altogether. Enjoy what we've got but don't expect any new releases because there won't be any.

WWII Development is in progress, but it is at a slower pace, we have WWII Marianas terrain in progress, the Hellcat is in progress also. We do plan on doing more in the future, and when we can share more we will let you all know.

thank you

And how's the progress coming along for implementing the missing aircraft of the assets pack that we were supposed to get?

In real this game could be a lot better than  IL-2, the feeling when flying ww2 planes on DCS is already better like we're on another planet, but in fact we obviously need some more planes. The western front should be a priority before the jump on the pacific. We just need a playable piston two engine german plane as we have a mosquito for allies, and then a ME262 and a Tempest or Typhoon. It would be 3 or 4 planes to finish this theater with of course all missing planes as AI. And of course we would need a mod to change the new german map as a WW2 one.

Hellcat and corsair will be very nice and I know I'll  buy the corsair because it's my favorite ww2 plane, but I have to admit I'd rather get a finished western theater first.

I would also love to fly a double/triplane in dogfight in a WW I scenario like @EnriquePBArt has announced (see below). I hope we can use DCS WWII maps for this.

I interpret that text different. Nineline said "The DCS: World War II Assets Pack will continue to grow [...] and free asset additions that includes". I do take that as a confirmation that we will get them, as AI of course.

Remember actualy ED has working on the WW2 pacific Assets Pack. The "european", has only show a T-34 on 2025 and Beyond video.

With WW2 assets ED follows the non-standard approach of "over promise, and under deliver". When they were steadily releasing new features/assets 3-4 years ago I was fully on their side, and by "steadily" I meant once in every 6-8 months. As of today, and for the past 2 years, we haven't gotten anything new in ww2 genre from them other than the canned response of "WW2 is still in development / the team is small / we are working on something / we'll let you know as soon as we have news / Mariana ww2 is coming soon (in 2 weeks)", essentially bignewy's response above.

Except for the occasional weekend influx of players the MP ww2 scene is pretty much dead.

As they say - it is what it is.
