I still dont get it with the R-73 and the Monocle.
How the heck do you shoot the R-73 using its own sensor and not the IRST?
I never get the typical fox2 sensor growling noise. 

Just looking with the HMD without pressing the "LOCKON" Button does nothing. No growling noise and no chance to get it off the rail.
Pressing and holding "LOCKON" just gives me the IRST lock. 

For my understanding the dashed crosshair means its in a R-73 lock, right?

It’s only from 30-45 degrees off nose it locks only r-73. Get lock and slowly move nose away and you will likely see it eventually. That being said it seems slightly bugged this patch

Either I’ve been lucky or putting the AP/AJ switch in AP has massively improved my r-27 hit rate

Not only that, the R-27R & ER with the new so-called model is just plain broke. Just a sprinkling of chaff is enough to send it off target. @AeriaGloria I will try your method today when I get back from work.

Perhaps I’m missing something, but which “AP/AJ switch” would that be?

The AJ/CAJ switch, which according to the manual provides the same function in the current implementation?

Yes, what you mean same function? It is just anti jamming/interference mode

Is there a central trimmer switch in the cockpit? Are we supposed to manually adjust trim to return back to center?

Are the four RSBN/PRMG airfields on the Caucasus map all there will be? Will ED add more or is it up to the mission editors?

Is the oxygen system fully functional? (I closed the O2 valve and there was no grey/black out at altitude).

These are placed on the map to simulate the 80s/90s state of the Caucasus. If you want more you'll have to add it in Mission Editor.

My bad, I should have asked is there a central trimmer switch in the RL MiG29?

 

Also, prob wrong thread but can anyone share their rudder curves please. I tried using the same as what I had for FC3 MiG29s but that's too sensitive for the FF and my crosswind landing have gone from just bad to downright atrocious.

Ah I should have checked that thoroughly. I missed the part where the rl trimmer hat is push button. I assume this the central trimmer in rl. Unfortunately for me my basic stick has no push button hat. Now I really got to get a new Hotas.
