AustinN360 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 :megalol: Let me Guess.......Red Coalition between WP2 and WP3? That was last night when some of us from the 104th jumped on that server. In total 3 pilots came down in the same spot. Was almost like hitting an invisible brick wall. I was on my own when I went down. Just as I got to WP2 aswell.

On your Ingress between WP2 and WP3, following the ABRIS 'route-line' you will crest a Mountain in the vicinity of the Friendly S-300 site. When doing so, you have direct Line-of-Sight with the Beachfront and WP#4..........that's one view you do not want! Panzertard Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 As CoBa pointed out while flying tonight - he would of course like to see a possibility to "win", valid point. Havent really gotten to that point yet - but if there are any specific suggestion, then why not enlighten me. :) As of now I'm considering: - Red must destroy Patriot + Hawk + Blue "ACME DYI-FARP" - Blue must destroy Depot, one of the S-300 sites (several, I need to pick one of them), and the Red "Rum Justice" refuel FARP. Was almost like hitting an invisible brick wall. I was on my own when I went down. Just as I got to WP2 aswell. Yeah, a few of those ambushes can really come as a supprise. As I stated in the OP, I've intentionally made it hard to get through some of the chokepoints (it's quite unfair) - and even when you've learned whats there you'll still have a though time getting through. The new and improved AI also upped the ante a bit. But still - lucky me, I was able to dodge an express delivery from an Abrams there today, salluting me with a sabot round from aprox 1.2km. But if I hadent seen the puff of smoke I would have joined the pile of wrecks. 3 minutes later another Avenger hidden behind a slope crusified me. Oh, and CoBa, next time you do a holdup of a enemy player I think I'll die laughing ;) The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning

S77th-ReOrdain Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Topic "External Views": I like the external views. This Game looks so awesome so I want to see and look arround. It is volunary!! Nobody force you to use external views. If you want to play the game realistic so don't use it! If people use external views to search enemys... well... let them.... Anyhow they have to kill the enemy and although they can be shot! In my point of view external views are NO cheating. It can give you the knowledge here enemys are, yes... but we all are here to have fun. If you think the mission is so hard for you so you have to use external views... why not? It is volunary! In my missions the external views are always ON. I tend to leave externals on for allies as well. Its not so much for my flying, although sometimes ill review my battle damage to my heli now and then. I find that on our server we often get people that just like to spectate the battle. Sometimes it relaxing sitting around with a coffee or beer watching the battle play out. If it was a clan match or something they would have to be off, but other than that it just adds to the fun :) External Views, yes - it's a difficult topic. Dragon and Kurtz, I also have much of the same opinon as you guys - but it's quite had to find a reasonable neutral ground between what you said and PvP (where externals obviously can be used to cheat). There is a compromise to this situation: Go to the server.lua file located .../Ka-50/Config/View/server.lua Back up the file - Original_server.lua, or whatever Open server.lua in Notepad++ Locate line 19 - ExternalObjectsLockDistance = 10000.0 Alter the lock distance to your preference - (I use 100.0) Save the file Now you and all clients joining the server are limited to the altered view distance. You can inspect your own helo, or check wingman (if he/she is is within 100 meters), and still enjoy external views with full zoom. This makes its difficult to exploit the combat view cheats, but will allow the moderate consumption of eye candy.:)

S77th-ReOrdain Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Just tested this properly. It doesn't work in multiplayer. Apparently, it is only effective locally - client maintains control of external view distance. Would be nice if view distance could be enforced on the server.
Boulund Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 awesome! popped in for a crash yesterday ;) Core i5-760 @ 3.6Ghz, 4GB DDR3, Geforce GTX470, Samsung SATA HDD, Dell UH2311H 1920x1080, Saitek X52 Pro., FreeTrack homemade cap w/ LifeCam VX-1000, Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1. 159th_Viper Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 .....Would be nice if view distance could be enforced on the server. Aye - Agreed. You would however also have to somehow ensure that the client is unable to cycle through the different players via F2. In doing so, you would be/are able to ascertain with a reasonable degree of accuracy the position of Opfor Helo's, view limit notwithstanding, and club them accordingly.....obviously a less than satisfactory way of conducting oneself online :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? dawestsides Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I tried again but this time using a different approach. Straight above the sea, high speed and low altitude. Panzertard Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 hehe, now thats fun - defences working as intended against the "old gameexploits" :) Cheers :) Btw - server is a bit locked atm, I'm testing some new triggers there right now. 159th_Falcon Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Will be the quality affected? the visual appearence of the water hardly changes between setting 2 or 1 but 1 has an significant fps boost. if you set 0 the fps will get even better but the visual appearence of the water in the game also changes significantly, as Panzer said, just try it. Now where talking about Panzer, and since where in his Battlefield thread i would like to recommend you guys to try this one out. Its an great and fun mission to play that requires you to keap situiational awareness constantly. Also, when certain goals from the briefing are med you will be in for some very nice fireworks. The battlefield is still in development and fine tuning but come play it and have a great time. (how i know about the fireworks?, well someone has to help whit some of the beta testing;)) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
Butcher59 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Yep, i can agree. It's a real challenge. You have always be on alert, fly low and use your skills to survive the next few minutes. External views, well, it should be made possible to enable for spectators and disable for Pilots, but... all in all, it's fun to fly 1 CPU: Intel i7-5820K 3,3GHz Motherboard: ASUS X99-A Grafik Card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX1080 Ti 337.50 RAM: 32GB PIMAX 5k+ BE Hotas Warthog with Simped Pedals WIN 10 64bit DirctX 11.0

Panzertard Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 New of 30. August 2009; A final update - mission code released. I'm not able to maintain the code anymore - it's just too big, too much debugging to take care of - which takes just too much of my precious time ;) So instead I release what I've done so far - use whatever bit's & snippets you want from the mission. A couple of notes regarding the latest version (30. August 2009); - The RADAR SAMS may be too deadly - may need to be removed / moved / tuned down. - The FPS isnt too bad, but there may be more tuning to do. - The triggers for the SAM destruction is not 100% complete, it may be too hard for a few pilots to be able to reach the goal. More tuning necesarry. - The flights coming in as a result of the triggers may not survive for long - or target the correct targets yet. More tuning is necesarry. - The new Blue FARP shorten the route for BLUE side a bit, bit it's still just a basic FARP - not much to see there. - The "old" DIY Blue FARP may be a better choice to span BLUE pilots, but it's quite close to the FEBA. Main post updated - mission attached. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
159th_Falcon Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 To bad your releasing your work, i was very curious as of what you where up to. On the other hand, now that other people may have a look at the code it might become a lil easyer on the system and for the pilots to fly while still having fun for hours on end. By the way, your planning on making some other (smaller) missions? Loved your battlefield and at least i have been one of few to take out an patriot or two:smartass: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)

Panzertard Posted May 10, 2010 Author Posted May 10, 2010 I dont dare to think if it anymore - it was a collosus. It wore me down to try to keep it balanced - and not kill all FPS.
