Yes buddy the Quest 3S is equipped with sound, and I must say it is sounds good. You should absolutely give it a try! We only live once, what do we have to loose? But please do buy Virtual Desktop Streamer aswell (25 dollars) it is a huge performence boost and make multiplayer run as good as in singleplayer, Here is my post I made today about my VR settings and the performence I got: Edited Sunday at 11:01 PM by The Gryphon
PLUTON Posted yesterday at 01:07 PM Posted yesterday at 01:07 PM Hello, what should I choose between the Quest 3 128 GB or the Quest 3 512 GB? And what is the difference, please?
OmasRachE Posted yesterday at 01:38 PM Posted yesterday at 01:38 PM (edited) Hello Pluton, the difference is more internal memory of the headset. Long story short you can go for the 128 GB headset, because you cannot install DCS on the headset itself. You have to use it with a link cable or via wlan link. The question is, if you want to use your vr headset with other applications. Some VR games can be installed on the headset and you can use it without a PC. But only for DCS you would have no effect of more memory. Edited yesterday at 01:39 PM by OmasRachE 1
schurem Posted yesterday at 01:47 PM Posted yesterday at 01:47 PM I feel you bro. Back before corona, a buddy of mine got a dev beta version of the oculus rift. He loaned it to me, and I tried DCS with it. It was amazing. I was sold right away. That's a long time ago. I'm now on my fourth headset since then (a pimax crystal light) and went all out on building a stupidly powerful PC to power it. Yes VR is very much PC gaming, in that it takes a *lot* of tweaking to get right, and your hardware is never powerful enough. Ever since I first experienced a takeoff in VR, and broke through an overcast cloud layer, I have been so happy with VR and DCS. It's been a dream I had since I was eight. 9800X3D, 64@6000, 5090, Pimax Crystal Light

And what is the difference, please? Yup as @OmasRachE said, META has a huge store of "Standalone" Quest games that are stored on and run FROM the headset. You can also store 3D movies on your QUEST to play with any number of 3D Movie Apps. All require internal storage. For PCVR like DCS, it is irrelevant, mostly. I got my QUEST 2 with 128 (vs 64 GB) and even though I have found quite a few "Standalone" games that I enjoy, I still have plenty of space. I imagine moving large 3D movies in would eat up a lot of space. Edited yesterday at 01:54 PM by Recluse
PLUTON Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM Thanks for your replies, guys. That's convenient because the 128 GB costs significantly less than the 512 GB. Okay, I'll get the 128 GB, which will soon replace my HP G2. Thanks again. Have a good flight, everyone.
diveplane Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago image very good ingame read dials etc displays? https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.

DLAA gives the best image both close up and at distance (for me). Pixel-densnity and Texture Resolution in the DCS graphics meny also seems to have a large impact aswell. In my Hornet flying VR I can see the HUD very good, but I have to lean forward a little bit to read text on dials (but actually in real life I have to do that aswell to be honest :)) Here is my thread about my current settings, performence results and things I discovered up to now:

I started with Rift S (a second hand one, bought for $300) 4 years ago running on 10100F/16GB/GTX970 - still great experience, even with crappy res and low fps but not all would handle that I'm sure. With your rig I'd go for Quest 3 or even something better. Sound is there from the straps over the ears and it may be ok for casual gaming but we're talking DCS here - full simulation, immersion, right? You definitely want quality sound from the good headphones - just be careful as not all of them can fit around the straps. And heat! When temperatures reach up to 35°C or above outside my sim room heats up to 50°C and I am just sweating under that VR headset. I even tried opentrack for hot summer days, but at the end I prefer melting down instead of 2D flying without any immersion at all. But some of my squadron members have a backup headtracking for such cases.

Godlike? Hello again Qcumber! You won't belive this! I managed to get rock- solid -stable : 72 FPS in multiplayer on Contention Server! On my Quest 3S!!!! To prove I am not joking with you all, I have taken pictures posted below 1. The first picture shows my photo from my mobilphone, I tried to take the picture inside the VR-headset but it was impossible to get a good image. On the picture you can see in the left top corner the FPS. You can also see on the top right corner Contention server text messages and in the middle is the server list with the players. 2. Second picture is a close-up photo from my mobilephone on the FPS. 3. This is changes I made in Virtual Desktop. I increased on the slider my VR Bitrate and Desktop Rate (I increased it with 100%). 4. In the Nvidia Control Panel I selected DCS and then changed the power setting (for DCS client) from Energy Saving to Maximal Power. 5. Last picture is my DCS Settings inside the simulator in the Settings Tab.

I tested Godlike inside of Virtual Desktop (VD) but now I am running High (RTX 3070) since I have a RTX 3080, but perhaps I should try to adjust it up again? I so pleased with the multiplayer framerate I got (the post above this one) so I dont know if I dare to change anything again

The next thing I would suggest is using Quad Views Foveated Rendering. This will give you a performance boost and allow you to run a higher resolution in the centre of view. I used QVFR in fixed mode with my Pico 4 for about a year before I bought a Quest Pro. BTW you can pick up a used QP for about £300-400 on eBay if you want to try out Dynamic Foveated Rendering. 1 PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present). Thanks for the advice it is much appreciated I will do a test tuning up VD to Ultra/Godlike. QP £300-400 is currently out of my budget I am afraid. I did some more adjustments after watching this video below, I set my settings in Virtual Dekstop (VD) to: VR Bitrate 150 Mbps Sharpening 30% VR Framerate 90 FPS Frame Rate 90 FPS Desktop Bitrate 90 Mbps DCS Settings locking 90 FPS Syncronos Spacewarp - Always Enabled And in VD Streamer I unchecked -> Adjust Bitrate. I did a playtest on 4YA Casacus PVE Server with 30 players on server, and my FPS was "locked in" 45 FPS stable. When I did my testing with 72 FPS post above, I noticed some framedrops (cities, trees etc), now it runs much smoother. I might try to crank all values above up to 100 to get a stable 50 FPS + set VD to Ultra/High, I do feel its moving in the right direction, very fun stuff to learn about 1
