I found myself that flying this legendary aircraft getting me upset because bad cockpit textures, bad cockpit global light, very similar switch sounds and pretty old sounds of equipment and engine. I also found that for reskining cockpit I can not find cockpit template, and its killing me. No idea how other guys retexture cockpit w/o template.
So I decide to create this thread with ask to main developer @-Rudel- to do MiG-21 remastered. Its quite popular coldwar aircraft, even more then F-5E, but its so old standard. Just look at new F-4U, this is another level, isn`t it?
If you agree, you can vote bellow. Thank you.

This was already announced 7 or 8 years ago by Magnitude. We were told "after the release of the F4U".

Probably you can find thread "MiG-21 Remastered" with official statement from main developer and a lot of wishes there?

Yep, and not that long ago they said the works had even already started, though only minor stuff since they were bogged down with the Corsair. Now it's released, and even though it's WIP and they'll keep polishing it for quite a while, let's hope the MiG-21 v2.0 comes sooner than later

Wishing to fulfill our promise to overhaul the MiG-21bis, we have began preparations for this massive undertaking.  Once the Corsair is released and completed, we will be able to give it all the needed attention.

In recent months we have expanded our library, which now comprises twice as many manuals and technical documents as it originally did.  This will allow us to simulate some of the systems in a manner not possible at a time the module was released.

Furthermore, our head of the research department has taken a few trips to the museums in Poland and Germany to gather a large collection of pictures of the MiG-21s, with an intention to use them for recreation of the 3d model and textures through photogrammetry.  There is no question, that in order to provide the best visual quality, we need to take advantage of all newest technologies.  This technologies in turn give us an opportunity to turn things that were previously impossible, into a reality.

Straight from the devs. Corsair is out. All we can do is wait, now.

It's been quite a spell, but a huge milestone has passed. So, it's a good reason to be positive!

This is my second DCS module, purchased very early on (right after the Mi-8), but it still impresses me.
This aircraft deserves another long life in DCS.
I hope this module will be renewed

These details in the form of inscriptions (which are legible, too) are impressive:

Most definitely. Given how old it is, I would gladly pay another $49.99 for a v2. I think no-one sane would expect the upgrade to be free, not after 10 years.

MiG-29 really stole almost all my limited time I get for DCS so I would very much like to get updated MiG-21, maybe with some more toys. I will admit I have no idea is there are things to be added for it to still remain a MiG-21bis, but if there are I'd like them in.

Sat in the Croatian bis few months ago, it was interesting to see bits of non-soviet equipment in it 🙂 Wasn't surprised with how cramped it is hahahah.

I don't miss things, but besides a graphics refresh of the cockpit and the exterior model, I would like the Gunsight, Radar, and ARK-RSBN-PRMG systems to be fully rebuilt, both to use the map built-in beacons, and to be more faithful to the real aircraft operation.

Regarding pricing, I agree with 50-60 dollars for new users, but current users of the Mig-21 deserve an Upgrade discount, say 30% off, otherwise I would keep using the current MiG-21 as is and use the money to purchase a completely different aircraft for my collection.

If they are going to make an overhaul, can we please get the MiG-21bis (Izdeliye 75A; NATO "Fishbed-L") Lazur-equipped version. That would be mega.

God, that'd be peak. I want to play with the Lazur system.

Eh, just to keep the bump the thread, here are the pics if anyone is interested how our MiGs were configured (at least number 133). While I wouldn't mind having this cockpit in DCS (just for convenience if nothing else, NATO compatible IFF, radios and some navigation addons), I don't expect it in the slightest.

Just bring it to the current standard and name the price. You'll get the money 🙂

It's been already mentioned many times, but I'll remind everyone of the fact that MiG-21Bis was built using many custom solutions due to there being no official ways to program in or code the workings of many of the systems. Hence, a 2.0 is effectively a new module, built from scratch. This shouldn't be looked at as a obligation from the developer either, as they pretty much delivered as well as they could within an already delayed timeframe.

As such, if we are to be truly delivered a new module with new technologies and implementations (and hopefully more variants of the aircraft), I suggest that people people here grow up and realize that 60$ is borderline an insult to the producers. Wages and prices go up (it's called inflation), yet you all suggest that the cost of a module should remain constant since about 15 years now! How about reversing the logic and instead realizing, that we should be happy for any Redfor module we get (given that the most popular ones are bling-bling western ones), and in addition, that a dev. has to invest around 2 million USD to create a module alone... I for one, will state that given the risk-factor and upfront payment, I don't see any problem at all with the devs claiming a 80+ USD reward for their product. Whatever the MiG-21 lacks in digital suites, it more than makes up for in analogue systems, which often are more complex to design for proper feel and quirk.

@Magnitude3 LLC

I say don't bother with the "5 dollar too expensive..."- part of the community, instead, show what you are capable of! I'll happily buy multiple licenses just to reward a quality product, and support ambition and innovation!
