Silent Film Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Communication Menu won't open with "\". I have run full repair, but it's the same. The "\" key works for typing. I have updated my keyboard driver today, maybe that could cause some issues, but why would it only make problems with DCS?
The_Nephilim Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Did you try testing in the options page for controls? Intel Ultra 265K 5.5GHZ / Gigabyte Z890 Aorus Elite / MSI 4070Ti Ventus 12GB / SoundBlaster Z SoundCard / Corsair Vengance 64GB Ram / HP Reverb G2 / Samsung 980 Pro 2TB Games / Crucial 512GB M.2 Win 11 Pro 21H2 / ButtKicker Gamer / CoolerMaster TD500 Mesh V2 PC Case
scommander2 Posted November 24 Posted November 24 How about "\" mapping is still in the "OPTIONS"->"CONTROLS" with the desire mod? Pressing "\", "Communication Menu" should be selected and highlighted. Silent Film Posted November 24 Author Posted November 24 I have figured out what is happening. After I have updated my keyboard driver, now DCS won't fully recognize my keyboard layout. It will recognize almost all keys, but some special characters are different. For example, "\" key on my keyboard shows as "]" in DCS, or "'" shows as ":". But when I type in Notepad, or in browser, all keys are showing as they should. I don't know is there any way I could fix this in DCS, or I need to do driver rollback.
Silent Film Posted November 24 Author Posted November 24 I have tested all keys in DCS, and found six that are showing differently. ` is showing as Kanji = is showing as Prev [ is showing as AT ] is showing as [ ' is showing as : \ is showing as ] My keyboard is Logitech K280e, but it seems like DCS now after the driver update recognizes it as something else.
scommander2 Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Personally, I am not sure how can the keyboard driver made the key map changed after the installation, unless there is the key programming somehow.. NoJoy Posted Tuesday at 07:13 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:13 PM Maybe your keyboard language layout has changed somehow? Does the driver have the right language? Well I mentioned already that all the keys are as they should be in Notepad and in browser, only in DCS six of them are showing differently.
NoJoy Posted Tuesday at 08:55 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:55 PM Yeah right, but there's not much else I can imagine. Why would DCS interprete your keyboard other than your OS. So, sorry. I admire your problem but don't have a solution here... Brrrrrrrrrrrt I'd rather call in a Strike Eagle... draconus Posted Wednesday at 10:51 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:51 AM It's usually the 3rd party app/driver that messes things up and keyboards don't need any special driver unless you use some fancy hot keys. Also check if you have multiple keyboard types/languages installed in the system. They may change depending on the app you run or with the bound key shortcut. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 MiG-29A F-14A/B F-15E C-130J CA SC NTTR PG Syria

Since Windows 10 is no longer receiving updates, I have decided at least to update all drivers that I can, so to keep up to date as possible. I don't know what you mean by multiple keyboard types/languages. I have three languages in Windows Language preferences that I use, but those have different letters at keys like [ ] ' \. But what is worse now, I can't roll back the driver, it seems that I have accidentally deleted the backup of the driver when I performed a disk cleanup. Nevermind, I have set different boundings in DCS for the keys in question. I only didn't find for ' what is it called, it is debriefing during the mission, which shows all mission events that had occured since the mission start, so if someone knows I would appreciate it.
draconus Posted Wednesday at 07:18 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:18 PM (edited) It's called apostrophe. Usually bound for mission score status window. And I meant keyboard layouts. You can have your own language set for system but still use US QWERTY keyboard layout for example. I'd just delete the driver, restart and check. MAXsenna Posted Friday at 05:11 PM Posted Friday at 05:11 PM @Silent Film It doesn't work on the ground anymore, or are you referring to in the air. Because that will be correct. Easy Comms is about to be depricated, so it's better to use the actual radio push to talk buttons, which for Comm1 is usually RAlt+\ and stop using the Communication Menu. Hace you tried that? Cheers!
jackdaw Posted Friday at 05:29 PM Posted Friday at 05:29 PM I have the same problem with the \ key for communication, I'm in the UK with keyboard set to english, what I did was delete the \ key for communcation then I used the same keybind I believe it comes up as OEM103, so basicly I use the same key on the keyboard but if you look under controls it shows OEM 103 2
