Boulund Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Dito that. I saw a vid on youtube where they used this video card together with six HD projectors instead. Much nicer! =) interesting article none-the-less! Krippz Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) I'm definitely getting 3 30" monitors to take advantage of this. I guess TH2GO's days are numbered? Shaman Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Yeehaa! Looks cool, but notice that image on the side screens is quite distorted since it is not projected like what we see naturally when we look to the side (it's more and more - fisheye view). 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
192nd_Erdem Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Looks like Matrox' overpriced TH2GO has found it's grave finally.

Alienware have made a screen that took that into account, but ok, it is pretty much two 24" next to each other... http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/07/video-alienwares-curved-display-caters-to-gamers/ *edit for link* Edited October 5, 2009 by zakobi

MrReynolds Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Well I hope you guys have display port monitors. From what I gather, to get 3 monitors up and running like we would want..... one of them HAS to be display port......... 2xdvi + 1xHDMI will not work......
sweinhart3 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 display port can be converted to DVI. I know because I have a setup like that at work. so dont panic Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
MrReynolds Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 BUT The display port adaptor NEEDS to be powered. +£100 from what I hear..... Better than buying an expensive monitor but ATI aren't exactly advertising the fact..... Now if i've read incorrect information, and a cheapo one works fine...... well GREAT!!!
sweinhart3 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 well mine isnt powered. just a straight adapter to dvi. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
sweinhart3 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Does anyone have this eyefinity setup for 3 monitors? Do you have to run DCS in single monitor mode using the weird super high resolution or do you use the 3 monitor setting in setup? Im thinking of using 3 42" screens in a semi surround view and need to determine how to set up the proper in game field of view. And with a wide fov like that would you still use track ir for panning your view or keep it stationary? Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
CyBerkut Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 well mine isnt powered. just a straight adapter to dvi. Some questions for you: - What make & model adapter (displayport to DVI) is that? - What make & model displays are being used? - What video card make & model is feeding them? JG14_Smil Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 sweinhart: with a super wide view, the only thing you need TIR for is the HMS. Whole point of a wide view is to see without panning (er minimal panning).
sweinhart3 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 any idea if thats possible to use it for just HMS? sweinhart: with a super wide view, the only thing you need TIR for is the HMS. My monitor is a standard monitor. HP 19" with vga/dvi input. The video card being used is Intel integrated graphics with vga & display port output. My particular adaptor is branded by HP but you can buy generic ones online or probably at a local electronics store. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158138&cm_re=display_port-_-15-158-138-_-Product Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
CyBerkut Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 OK, that may shed some light into the Displayport to DVI adapter issue. For the ATI 58xx series cards (the ones with 2 DVI / 1 HDMI / 1 DisplayPort), an "*Active* DisplayPort to DVI adapter" is required to use the DisplayPort to feed a _third_ DVI display. It has to do with the timing signals generated on the card. DVI is handled differently than DisplayPort, and the card does not have the capacity to support 3 ports of DVI on its own. The more expensive 'active' adapter makes up for what the 58xx can not supply. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1
Made.In.China.00 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 But is it possible to put in two cards and hook up 4 monitors in a 3(camera)+1(abris+shval) setup and bypass the DisplayPort issue?
CyBerkut Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 But is it possible to put in two cards and hook up 4 monitors in a 3(camera)+1(abris+shval) setup and bypass the DisplayPort issue? Hmmm... I'm not sure what the answer to that would be at this time. As of this writing, ATI has reportedly only enabled Eyefinity on the 5970 (2 GPU's on 1 card). My *guess* is that if you don't put the cards in Crossfire, and use SoftTH, you could probably make it work. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1

CyBerkut Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Interesting. Can you share the details of what you have there? Which ATI card(s)? What monitor models and types of connections (ie. DVI / HDMI / DisplayPort)? Anything else that would be relevant (modes / software / drivers, etc.)? What have you compared it to (SoftTH, Matrox TH2Go)? Thanks!
