diveplane Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I find it very hard to believe that the complete White-out, as currently experienced in Cockpit, is realistic. It needs to be tweaked. The HDR values are crazy. Nate i dont get complete white out on my screen, sounds like a graphic issue on your end? https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Total Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 I use an nvidia GTX260 Core 216 and do not experience that. What driver version are you running?
Axion Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 With the in game brightness setting turned to a minimum I get the following. Is everyone else experiencing similar results? Asus Z390 Code XI, i9-9900K, RAM 32 Gig Corsair Vengeance @ 3200, RTX 2080 TI FE, TIR 5, Samsung 970 EVO 1TB, HOTAS WH, ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q, HTC Vive Pro, Win 10 x64
Dave317 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Yep same results sometimes worse. I'm running latest Nvidia drivers too.
Nate--IRL-- Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Thats similar to what I'm getting too, I have an ATI 4890 so it isn't vendor specific it seems. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

ED Team JimMack Posted December 29, 2009 ED Team Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) see ya in the virtual wop skies jim lol Ok - all controls working OK. Checking the terrain which is excellent low down, but is fudged above 5,000 ft. Checked Spitfire Mk II performance against the Pilots Notes published in June 1940 (My Dad's copy). There apppears to be no correlation between reality and the simulation. The key figures on the top left of the screen are in metric, but instruments are correctly in Imperial. Is there an option to change metric to Imperial? Edited December 29, 2009 by JimMack Having problems? ED Team JimMack Posted December 29, 2009 ED Team Posted December 29, 2009 Under the Main Menu/Profile/Options/General you can change the units of measurement for speed, altitude and distance. Very many thanks will test tomorrow. Here is the real data from the Pilots Notes for a Spitfire MkIIa and MkIIb as published in June 1940, just before the Battle of Britain: Engine Limitation RPM Boost Max take-off to 1000 ft 3,000 12.5 Max Climbing limit 2.850 9 Combat 5 min limit 3,000 12 Diving - Max rpm 3,600 (3,000 rpm only exceed for 30 secs with throttle not less than one third open) Combat: 3,000 rpm may be used above 20,000 ft for periods not exceeding 30 mins. Max Speed (mph IAS) Diving 450 - will become tail heavy and should be trimmed into the dive Undercarriage down 160 Flaps down 140 Take-off Do not start to climb before 140 mph Climbing Up to 15,000 ft max rate is obtained at 160 mph ASIR However Ground to 13,000 ft 185 ASIR etc etc 30,000 ft to 35,000 ft 110 mph ASIR (comment, I can not get the Spit to fly above 15,000) Stalling Will stall with one wing down. Indication is a violent shudder and a clattering noise. Standard recovery procedure. Flaps and undercarriage up 73 mph ASIR Flaps and undercarriage down 64 mph ASIR Spinning Not below 10,000 ft, recovery before 5,000 ft. Speed of 150 mph before easing out of dive. Aerobatics looping - 300 mph, but 220 if pilot is very experienced Rolling - 180-300 mph - start with nose 30 degrees above horizon HALF ROLL OFF LOOP - 350-400 MPH Upward Roll - 350-400 mph Flick Rolls - NOT ALLOWED Landing Approach at 140 mph and then go through standard checklist of Undercarriage, Mixture Control RICH, Pitch (prop control fully forward), Flaps. Final approach - Engine = 85 mph, Glide = 90 mph Hope this is of interest - you can test against IL2, Microsoft etc. At TFC we only have a MkV and a MkXIV Spitfire so can not warrant that the Pilots Notes are correct for a MKII! However shaking before the stall seems to happen for all MKs! Cheers Jim Having problems? Yes, they use haze effect to hide that details are not clear. I am sure you have flown in airliners at 30,000 ft. Even at this height, the ground is very clear. It is not a criticism for what is an air-2-air sim, it is a difficult problem to solve with a PC and the current fidelity of monitors. As you know, we have a draw distance of about 20Km, which is adequate for realistic CAS operations. Having problems? Total Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 The spit's wider wings (spoons as one ex-pilot I met called them) made it a very stable aircraft.

No, he was a Royal Navy Marine Engineer in WW2, then transferred to the Fleet Air Arm in 1946 and became a test pilot. I see from his log book that the next aircraft he flew was a Seafire 47, so at a guess during his training at the Empire Test Pilot's course he was being given experience in different types. BTTW-DratsaB Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Seems that for some reason some torrent clients wont download it. I have been trying to download it for about 4 days now and it always says the same thing in Vuze, "Tracker for 'wings.of.prey.iso' returned warning 'Torrent not registered'". :( The proper demo is supposed to be out soon so I guess I'll just wait for that.
