Sorry for using this thread for this, but its not completely off topic. I need the name of a movie I havent seen for many years. Tried google and IMDB but since I dont remember any of the actors in it I couldnt find it. Its a movie about a US aggressor pilot flying a kfir plane (F-21?) and goes crazy and takes the plane on a crazy suicide (carrying a nuke if I remember correctly) mission. Does anyone know the name of this movie? I would love to see it again, but cant without a name LOL. Thanks!

Thanks, I have already seen it again (sort of) and it sucks, no need to see it. I remembered it as being good, but it was not. I say "sort of " seen it since I stopped watching half way through.

Das Boot

I agree. I watched the director's cut of Das Boot(really long!) with subtitles, and it really didn't detract from the movie, as it does in some other cases.

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

"I swear by my pretty floral bonet, I will end you." -Mal from Firefly

Bravo Two Zero

First Gulf war, SAS patrol behind enemy lines, Scud hunt...

Their is two movies about that mission that were released roughly at the same time.

One was called "The one that got away" with some McGann bloke and the other was " Bravo Two Zero".

Both tell the same story, but each one is based on either Chris Ryans account or Andy McStab's ( I know its McNab ) account of what is supposed to of happened.

Both together helps you get a fuller picture of what really happened during that mission.

I actually think that The one that got away is better than Bravo two Zero, but they are both roughly of the same quality.

If you havent seen TOTGA and if you are interested in seeing it, lemme know as I think I still have it somewhere.

This is it here:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117250/

Also, just to add to the thread, another good war movie, it isnt exactly war, but its related to it and to espionage and mossad, " The Doomsday Gun"

About the Iraqi super gun and how the j00's assasinated the Canadian Engineer Gerald Bull who was building it for the Iraqis.

I agree. I watched the director's cut of Das Boot(really long!) with subtitles, and it really didn't detract from the movie, as it does in some other cases.

If I recall, the directors Cut, is actually shorter than the Original by a good bit.

I have the directors cut on DVD and I have the Original Episode version on a few VHS video Tapes, and the VHS version is longer than the Directors cut.

Regardless of which version people watch, they are both great.

The movie itself was filmed in a uboat for the parts that could be filmed in one and in a custom built sub set for other parts and, they even built a sub frame onto a boat for the exterior shots, so when you see them standing on the bridge and sailing through the water, they are actually standing on a frame thats been built onto a normal boat, no cgi there...

The actors were also forced to live like pigs during the filiming process so that they would look white due to lack of sunlight, sweaty and beardy due to not being allowed to wash or shave properly and also to give them that apathetic look about them, so that they would reflect what real submariners would look like before/during/after a mission during the war.

That is hardcore, as it must of felt like they really were going on a mission during filming, which was the directors intention.

The part with the bombing is very realisticly created in the film, very sad.

The romance part is gibberish imho.

Das boot. 1981.
