If someone does manage to get a Ka-50 up to FL200 and in a position to fire the gun personally I'll just dump all 200 odd chaff carts into their flight path and watch them fall out of the sky when their engines give up due to "dust" damage. :D

 

Or I suppose if I was really bored with raping their tanks I could just give the cheeky kamov driver a demonstration of a real 30mm gun :gun_rifle:

Well I lay awake at night thinking up new and ever more unusual methods of killing Ka-50s with various Air to Ground ordnance. Is that serious? :D

I had a great idea earlier. You could jettison all of your payload directly above the Ka-50 while its hovering. If you get it right he won't be around much longer. Or just do a bombing run on him.

 

Also we could always force the Ka-50 pilot to over-handle his slick and clip the rotors just at the sight of the God of War coming down upon them. And as for GG and his Eagle I am hoping the nice chaps at the 159th Fighter Wing can die enough times to where he won't even get to the Hog. :D

Do you know all of them personally? That's quite a bold statement. What if some individuals pack binoculars into their cockpit to have them "just in case" or for any other reason?

Actually thats something Ive been wondering. According to the manual the shark has a service ceiling of 5500 meters which comes out to about 18000'. How do they get that number? Is that with zero load out, with all the paint stripped off, the gun and pods removed or something? Ive got it up to 3500 meters at which point it just doesnt go up any more. At 3000 meters trying to climb anymore you can hear it shouting "I think I can; I think I can!"

I've done ~4200 meters, with a payload of 4 S8 pods, and only reason I didn't keep climbing was that I didn't have reason to do so. Thankfully there's people like Viper that do all the crazy experiments for me. :P

Come on, he doesn't have to know them all personally, that's just you trying to be combative. He will know their SOP and what kit they have issued to them, and ED will have spoken to operational pilots during the development of the DTS. Binoculars is not part of their standard kit and not something that is common - whether there's a singular exception or two with some excentric pilot that can't drop the ways of his A-days, that's not relevant.

 

Obviously though, it's also possible that there are actual regs prohibiting the pilots from carrying non-issued loose objects in the cockpit. In fact, I'd be surprised if there were not such regs.

Pretty sure I've crossed the mountains at 5000(ish) now that you mention it. No, can't remember HOW exactly - was a while ago - but not by cheating at any rate :D

Maintain an IAS of 130km/h (remember: NOT the value displayed in the HUD, that is GS) and then you'll be able to climb like a rocket. Note the "maintain" - going faster will make you climb slower (or not at all) at altitude. ;)

Ive crossed the mountains before too but there have been several occasions where I didnt climb high enough before I reached the mountains, and when I get there have to climb out another 500meters, I end up slowing to a crawl and vertical ascent becomes painful.
