Tikkietegek Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 (edited) I wasn't able to find a thread about this topic, So i'd like to start one! Below is a picture of my setup: it consists out of a Medion PC, upgraded with an 8800 gts. For input i use a Saitek X52 mounted to my chair with some custom brackets. The main feature of this setup is an Acer Beamer, that displays an 62 inch picture on the screen. Edited January 17, 2010 by Tikkietegek
asparagin Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hi Tikkietegek Can give some details on your beamer. I'm interested if there's a problem with the heat (like getting warm when watching movies) and what is the max fps you can get with it. thanks. Spoiler AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, MSI MEG X570 UNIFY (AM4, AMD X570, ATX), Noctua NH-DH14, EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA, Seasonic Focus PX (850W), Kingston HyperX 240GB, Samsung 970 EVO Plus (1000GB, M.2 2280), 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 DIMM CL16, Cooler Master 932 HAF, Samsung Odyssey G5; 34", Win 10 X64 Pro, Track IR, TM Warthog, TM MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudders
Tikkietegek Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 Trackir is somegthing for the future :) The beamer is an Acer X1160, a DLP projector with an 800 X 600 resolution. I have been using it for quite some time now, and havent encountered any of the drawbacks i was afraid of. When using it with my Xbox 360, i have never noticed any framerate issues, and the beamer converts the HD signal from the console into a super sharp image. As For DCS, i really don't see when people spend 300 dollars for a 24" display when they can buy this setup for around 450 :) As for the heat, i have never overheated it, even after using it for 5+ Hours. Speaking of hours, the lamp is rated for 3000 hours. After almost a year, i have racked up about 750 hours. which is an avarage of 2 hours.
asparagin Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Thanks for your reply, how is it with movies? Spoiler AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, MSI MEG X570 UNIFY (AM4, AMD X570, ATX), Noctua NH-DH14, EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA, Seasonic Focus PX (850W), Kingston HyperX 240GB, Samsung 970 EVO Plus (1000GB, M.2 2280), 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 DIMM CL16, Cooler Master 932 HAF, Samsung Odyssey G5; 34", Win 10 X64 Pro, Track IR, TM Warthog, TM MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudders
Tikkietegek Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 Perfect as well, the only important thing is that the room you're using it in is completely dark. otherwise the contrast is gone.
Prophet4no1 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) It's not much, but it works for the most part. Note TrackIR coming soon. And after wedding, a new monitor. And normally the lighting is off. Edited January 17, 2010 by Prophet4no1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sweinhart3 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I purchased a 50" 1080p plasma tv specifically for DCS. Contrast isnt an issue. The only downside I've found is the whole screen burn in issue. This isnt a problem when your playing games but if all you have is the usual windows screen up for 10-15min, the image lingers for a few minutes once its been changed. Small price to pay for high quality. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart

Eddie Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Here is mine MFD's not working yet (snip) With working MFD's (snip) DLP projector vs the 30" monitor (snip) I'm not jelous. :worthy: Is that F4Glass or Falcon Gauges you're running on the L/H monitor?
Icarus2 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I'm not jelous. :worthy: Is that F4Glass or Falcon Gauges you're running on the L/H monitor? MFD Exporter. It does the 2 MFD's and all those guages on the left monitor from my kitchen computer. The right monitor has TS and I used to have Weapons Delivery Planner, but it does not seem to work with Vista 64, at least I haven't got it to work. I'm jealous of your girlfriend on your desktop. Wanna trade?
Eddie Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Hmmm, haven't heard of MFD exporter before. Guess I've not been paying full attention to the F4 community for too long, will have a look at it, thanks. And, no need to trade, just google Lucy Pinder and you can have her on your desktop too ;).
CoNa Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Have been modifying my pit once again. Now using a 27" monitor as main and a 12" touchscreen with TB. Have now moved the Subwoofer up on the table. It gives nice vibrations in the hotas and then the buttkicker does the chair.
