Hi,

How far from DCS-standard is the Su-25T of Flaming Cliffs 2? I want a high-fidelity fixed-wing simulator and don't know which one to get.

It's really far.

Su25T in Lo has no even correct avionics, so....

Like Bob said ... extremely far.

Wait for DCS: A-10C :D

Well before we get all poo-poo on LO let's not dismiss the poor Su25 as a high fidelity model. No it's no Black Shark but there is nothing in the fixed-wing combat world even close to the Su25 as a flight model. It's magical. And there really is no place else to turn except perhaps X-Plane but then we are no longer talking combat, which I assume is what the OP wants. So I say don't wait for DCS:A10. Anticipate it, yes. But in the meantime, get LO:FC and enjoy a superb flight model.

I was thinking of the entire plane - but for the FM, yep, it's the thing right now, as far as combat sims go.

Ok, thanks for straighten that out for me! As far as aircraft systems goes, one of the Falcon-variants are still the best the fixed-wing market has to offer?

It seems to be but then I've never flown and F16. I used to get all proud of myself for programming the ECS but really few of us have any idea if Falcon 4 hit the mark or just gave the player the sensation that he was do something close to reality. I can say that the FM is very poor in Falcon 4. It's not terrible but it's not even close to the standard fidelity planes in LO. You can see where I lean but if you have the money and the time for the learning curve, get it...or get both. Us end-users need to be generous to the the flight sim developer world because the market is extremely thin and they need all the help they can get.

Very true. I already am an Area 51-member for Fighter Ops and I bought Black Shark the moment it got out. I will of course buy DCS: Warthog when it gets available too. I just need something to do in the meantime, when I can't fly Falcon because of NVIDIA-card issues and my friend doesn't like helicopters ;)

Some detail in Falcon are very close to RL while other are very far.

Open Falcon is very close to RL in terms of some avionics, some engine parameters.

I'm no pilot but, from my very limited F-16 flight time, the Falcon FM model is not right in many ways. The game strongest points are the Campaign engine and the avionics (Targeting pods, HTS pod, radar modes integration with pilot, cockpit functionality, etc.)

I think DCS Black Shark has the same avionics complexity, better graphics (obvious since it is 10 younger ) easier set up but, lack that massive campaign feel.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Yeah, the dynamic campaign is what really makes it worth flying the game. If only we could have that in DCS. The feeling of knowing that my success or failure makes a difference in a realistic way is half of the fun. But I can't wait to get my hands on DCS Warthog and TM's upcoming A-10C controller replica either. :joystick:

Mission designer's utilizing the current ME to it's potential is a good stop-gap in the interim. I see the lack of collision detection with trees; and the inability to use trees to avoid search radars and an enemies' line of sight a more pressing issue.

ED may in future include the model of Su-25 in CF or DCS future or this addon is out of any project?

There is a possibility for a Su-25 module in the future of DCS.

Having a realistic flight environment comes first. I haven't flown enough to be aware of these shortcomings, hope they get fixed really soon. After all the only flyable aircraft's main tactic is to hide behind terrain.

That would be awesome. Although I'd rather see a multi-purpose aircraft to build a simpit around and be able to fly all kinds of missions, the Su-25 is still on my wishlist.

You can hide behind terrain. Trees are a problem that won't be fixed very soon - unfortunate but a reality of software development.

well I know for sure you have realistic fm when crashing into a parked jeep ...from experience ;)

I think the damage model of BS is absolutely amazing...

As a long time falcon player I can say that Falcon was great back in 3.0 for the flight model ...but 4.0 seems a bit less awesome for its time...avionics are where is at besides the obvious incredible campaign but thats about it...the damage model is so so and landing seems very fake I dunno...

What I do know is that while the campaign in BS may not be 100 percent dynamic...its flight model and avionics make it the real thing or as close to it...wayyyyyy more advanced and tougher than Falcon...Falcon was cake.

You're absolutely right. However, BS is a helicopter simulation and that makes my only flight simulator-interested friend not wanting to buy it. Without multiplayer, one dimension is lost. I don't feel that I have the time to be active in a squad.

so just to get this right, the DCS series are super-high fidelity and no other sims get close but LOFC (v2 when it arrives) are still much better than most of the rest of the market

i'm guessing that for the average flight-simmer, who's never flown a fixed wing aircraft in real life, i probably wouldn't notice A-10 LOFC2 shortcomings...until I played the DCS equivalent that is!

Posted

You don't actually have to be a pilot IRL to notice that (though it helps). General physics knowledge can also be sufficient.

Though it should be said that Falcon is higher-fideily than LOFC, excepting the Su25 Flight Model. But then again - it simulates one aircraft rather than many, so that is natural.

Thats good news, even the "possiblity" part, for me its the jewel in the crown in Lock On, and deserves a place in DCS's future.
