But the same goes for the dutch and their F-35 contract.

Those who signed that might have also been given a fair amount of $. ;)

but just because it's Swedish! I give myself an allowance of nationalism in two cases only: jets and Starcraft. :D

Another test¯\_(ツ)_/¯ :music_whistling:

I'll just be glad if the next DCS aircraft is used by several countries... and not just 1 like the A-10C and the Ka-50. Not that fictional skins or the breaking of realism bothers me, but it would just be something nice to have in the sim.

Have you tried to see if you can get your SR71 thirst quenched in FSX ?

Yes I have. I found the cockpit to be very lacking. I also was not happy with the wind dynamic of the aircraft. I think in real life if your cruising mach 3.2 you should feel it. It should not just cruise along like a cessna.

Thank you for the idea though.

X-Plane maybe?

I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original.

X-Plane probably is better in some terms like this, not sure, but its graphics inferiority (although not bad) that kept me off and relatively less friendly interface

I don't know Squid to me X-Plane actually looks really good. I am not going to say that it is better than FSX but, I will say the graphics appeal to ME more. The land just seems a lot more organic. Your right about X-Planes interface though. It is HORRIBLE, and thats coming from a fan.

I am going to make a thread in the OTHER SIMS area (to keep from going too off topic). Please read it Squid (or other X-Plane users) because I have questions.

OK back ON topic (sorry about that). I was thinking about VATSIM. It is my understanding VATSIM makes FSX and X-Plane 9 (two seperate games, two seperate engines) semi online compatible. Would it be possible to do that with say DCS and a Ground Warfare simulator (two seperate games, two seperate engines) using statistical data sharing? The system would look at the kill to death ratio of two or more clans in real time. Then it would auto generate forces based on statistics for the next spawn cycle. This would create a sort of dynamic campaign. You guys think this might be doable or fun?

Hows that for a wish (pretty out there right)?

Yes, for sure. I remember in ATF all 4 of my friends would take off, marshal together, go out and execute the mission and land back on the carrier. It was amazing! I thought the graphics were good back then... lol, Soooo much better now!

Posted
I think, apart from the challenge of t/o & landings on a carrier, the main advantage of a carrier borne aircraft would be the massive area of the theatre (the whole Black Sea) that would be opened up for use. Having such a large area of Sea available to sit your carrier would allow for a larger number of realistic scenarios as you wouldn't always have to use the few bases in Georgia, or even involve Georgia in the scenario at all.

As for the Hornet, I agree entirely, with the caveat that I do still have a sadistic desire to fly it and adapt to it's many short falls.

For sure It's the challenge of getting off the carrier, doing the mission and landing the jet safely that turns me on!

if you mirror the quote vertically , distance your self to 23 cm from monitor and try to focus on infinite you will see it shaping with lockheed martin logo uppercase font :D

Wow, I see it now! Thanks Squid!

Well we've all pretty much reached a consensus that it won't and would be incredibly stupid for ED to do an F-16 sim since you can go play Falcon 4 if you want that. Why waste their time doing another one?

I consider it a vastly overrated airframe, don't know why it's painted as such a Hollywood superstar by the sim world...

But the fidelity and modeling of the F-16 would be much better, and let's not forget "The Bubble Canopy!- Riding on the tip of the pencil!"
