I staked all my hopes on FC3 , hoping we can fly FC3 planes this year . I've forgotten there's something called "The next DCS jet" . I don't see any hope out there. wuwuwuuwu........

Remember that two have already been announced for release

Aye - those very words some tend to interpret to suite their particular view as opposed to what was said, ie 9 months from Retail Release.

Now taking the A-10C as an example (Retail release July 2011 in the USA), we have until Jan 2013 (18 months) to reasonably expect the release of the next two announced modules, ie Combined Arms and P-51D, never mind FC3 and Nevada as well.

It's been so long since DCS was announced that I don't remember what was said about the 9 month thing. I think me and a lot of other people thought every 9 months not 9 months after retail release. We have had 2 DCS models released since Out 2008? and it's currently March 2012 (3 1/2 years). I know with every release new things are added, which is very nice. trust me when I say this, I really don't mind how long it's taking, I have other things keeping me busy (Kids, work and school). It would be nice to know what model they are working on, but I understand why they are treating it like "Area 51". As has been stated many times before "everything is subject to change".

You've got a nice idea , from now on ,we just call "next DCS jet" the Area 51".:D:megalol:

Might have to use "Shunkworks", Area 51 is already in use by Figther Ops :D

Would be cool if they gave a list of 5 jets and said it's one of them.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Waaay back, when Black Shark first became a DCS products instead of a straight LO expansion pack, ED stated in one FAQ entry that they hope they'll be able to release one module every 9 months.

...since then, people have been doing exactly what you have been doing, and then they also get upset at ED not making much public statements... Shooting oneself in the foot is apparently a great passtime. :D

Basically, this was stated in the same context as the hope that DCS modules would be entire modular, and it was also before decisions were made to make things like FC2, FC3, P-51D, Combined Arms, EDGE, and so on and so forth. So please, drop that 9 month thing for once. Things have happened in the last 5 years... ;)

you´re right. I found the former FAQ:

original FAQ posted by EB in 2007

Q: Your press release indicates that Black Shark is the first in a series of DCS modules, with more aircraft/helicopters to follow. How soon will these new aircraft become available?

A: We are already developing the A-10A “Warthog" and AH-64A “Apache” (with planned front-seat / back-seat multiplayer) and other western and eastern aircraft will follow with an approximate interval of every nine months. To annouce these later aircraft now would be premature because plans can often change and lead to delays due to numerous factors such as our work in the equally important military simulation market.

I will point out that plans have apparently changed. So please...please do NOT REFER TO THIS FAQ IN ANY DISCUSSION

I hope that this will clear the question about how ED has stated this or what ED has stated at all.

^^ in deed they have changed.

The A10A turned into the A-10C.

But no word about the AH-64 though.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Ethereal, like I said it's been so long I forgot what was said about it and things are always subject to change. Also, I can wait like I said, I have other things keeping me busy. I thought post were made and then later changed (ninja style) to reflect something different. I doubt the 9 month thing will ever be dropped. Someone will bring it up and yes I know things have happened in the last 5 years...a lot of things.

but so far no one seems to want a one-seat attack heli :)

ED excluded, though ;)

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

Looking at the number of Super Hornet votes, do you think they would still consider doing an F-14 Tomcat sim? IMHO, it is a much more interesting plane, and looks better too! It is a piece of history and would fit perfectly for the next sim.... I would sell my soul for a good F-14 simulator, flying the F-14 in FSX just doesn't quite cut it. (Sorry if this is a topic change but I had to ask)

Don't make the mistake of overestimating the importance of polls like this. Only an extremely small minority of ED's customers are on these forums, so decisions on which aircraft to model needs to take a lot of other things into account first. The poll results here only say what a minority of a minority wants (only a tiny minority ever read these forums, and only a minority of those have responded to the poll).

Not saying that it's pointless to show what you want, ED does read and does take notice, but just remember that there's a lot more that goes into those decisions. :)

Maybe these people need to get their butts in here and vote then. If not they have no say in what's next. :D

Polls have no impact what-so-ever in here.

I am not sure if that is encouraging or depressing. I just want to fly a Tomcat, and from seeing the amazing job DCS did with the A-10, it makes me excited to think how awesome the F-14 would be. I guess mostly I'm a little sad at the retirement of such a unique aircraft. Either way, I am excited to see what the next project will be! :)

When/how do we find out about the next project?

"When" ED is prepared to tell you, and the "how" is through ED making the relevant announcement. Unfortunately I don't know exactly when this "when" will be, so patience is the virtue I guess.
