Fish Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 (edited) Want this to be a positive post, don't want any negative comments. Have not spent much time in the pit yet but here are some of the things I really like about Flaming Cliffs 2.0 1. The target box can be assigned an analog axis, so can be retained at fixed size, from mission to mission, until its adjusted. 2. Frame rate. I have a multicore, and it runs significantly better than FC1.12 with comparable settings. 3. The extra DOF's for the pit. Even the stock 'roll' and slight shifting of the seat postion, adds to the sensation of realism. 4. I don't have to worry about the laser overheating SU25T (from what I can see). 5. New visuals are fantastic. They look great in BS, but while flying over cost line at high speed, with high FPS. Amazing. Nothing comes close. 6. Separate control sets for each aircraft. Have not separated profile yet, great to have the ability to do it. 7. Terrain with higher mountains, much more fun to fly in. 8. HitchHikingFlatlander Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Yeah lots of great improvements, I like the sensation of speed especially at low altitude! FC1 never made me feel like I was flying a jet (although I'm still not sure if I'm just used to flying the dump truck the KA50 is lol). It really is a great product compared to FC1 (not that it wasn't good in it's own right/day). Looking forward to many more years of fun with FC2! http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
Madman777 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 1. I really like holding down the release weapons button before the missile launches...seems more realistic. 2. The visuals are amazing. In DCS BS I never fly high, so seeing the world from up high is amazing, and a first for me. Those mountains look amazing. 3. Third party 6DOF cockpit. Amazing! nough said. 4. The feeling of getting your $30 worth. Especially when you know you're going to be playing for MANY hours, days, weeks, and years! 5. The radar in the F-15C finally works properly and doesn't mess up everytime I use it. Thank you! 6. The interface is better, main menu music not as good as blackshark, but trillions times better then LOMAC/FC1...IMO i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules
Nate--IRL-- Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 The one thing that put a big broad smile on my face was the sound when I made a low pass dropping some Fab-500's in my frog. I have my computer hooked up to a Stereo amp with a pair of Mission 703's and the sound of the explosion in cockpit is VERY satisfying. Well done C0ff, pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Nate I too find myself grinning ridiculously after every bombing run in the 25. Cheers c0ff! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sarge55 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I agree, among all the great improvements, the sound stands out. Well done to c0ff and the team. deadsmell Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I'd call it a success ;) P. S. Taken a note that some people prefer more calm music as a background. Hey Coff, I like the music, if anything, I kind of wish there was more of it. Maybe in the future it could have a few songs that it cycles through, or maybe have an option for people who like certain songs over the other to be able to have only the songs they like play. Count me in for wanting more Music!! Im really enjoying 2.0, I think its great. I havent seen anyone mention the missions yet so ill do it. The missions are fantastic. Challenging, exciting, and just plain fun! Dont let the smell get to ya...............
HitchHikingFlatlander Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Yeah I feel bad that I left sound out of my "likes" post! If only all developers could release such a great product (at launch no less)! http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
slug88 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I havent seen anyone mention the missions yet so ill do it. The missions are fantastic. Challenging, exciting, and just plain fun! This too. I'm half way through the 1989 Su-25A campaign, which has been very enjoyable so far, and easily eclipses any of the campaigns I played in FC1 or LO. In fact as soon as I saw that there was a 1989 campaign I knew instantly I'd be getting my $30 worth. Furthermore, some of of the single missions are just epic! For example, Black Sea Battle, a Su-33 mission, involves an engagement between a Russian and an undersized US carrier group. As one might imagine, this mission isn't kind on lower end PC's: dozens of aircraft, both friendly and enemy, fill the sky as constant streams of antiship missiles skim over the sea in both directions, while radio calls (both scripted and automated) keep the radio busy. Multiple mission objectives mean aeriel refueling and studious note taking are both necessary. Truly more of a mini-campaign than a single mission. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Boberro Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I like new Su-25A. Now properly used it can be quite dangerous. Add to it with Su-25T as an example for leader and you can do a lot of damages. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
tflash Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I agree. Su-25 is THE revelation to me. Not only is it very "real" in this Georgia-Ossetia setting, the flight experience is really a delight. I've become a true rocket-cluster-dumb bomb afficionado in no time! +1 for this thread! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
