LOL. I could see this being in a movie. They show you cranking up the bass and volume all the way on a like 5000 dollar sound system. You start flying and it pans to outside your house and u hear "sweeeeeeooooooooo BOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!" hahaha all the neigbors open their windows and of course the old cranky man would yell "DAMN KIDS THESE DAYS!!" Dude great job u are gifted in this sort of thing. You should look into making a living. diveplane Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 your 20 seconds of lead in needs to be cut down lol. :megalol: great sounds too.!!! hope your comment was light hearted sarcasm lol.., really the audios sound fantastic on my end. most realistic you can get ingame, and considering the limitations, ED did well on tidying the audio and better performance this time around. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Frazer Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 these are high quality audio samples, takes a fair bit off processing to render ingame, but its worth it if you have the hardware, very realistic all round now. Will you use ogg format for your sounds Diveplane? You could win some performance by using ogg for all sounds (for the ones that think that wav quality is better for gamesounds, I bet you wouldn't hear the difference if not told it is wav or ogg). Just a tip, in sdef files you can set ogg as a preference for lockon to use (just type .ogg behind the soundfilename in the sdef file). topol-m Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I like how the A-10 sounds in your video. You can feel the jet engines now not that buzzing pussy sound :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

High end machines probably wouldn't notice a lot of difference, though seen that you can't really tell the difference between wav and ogg quality wise, it wouldn't hurt to simply stick to ogg files. ;) Forum | Videos | DCS:BS Demo1 / Demo2 | YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Who is an audiophile will go for HQ one and people with laptops (myself), will stick to .ogg

Boberro Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Can't wait for all, good job. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ

Frazer Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 To all the people who prefer the so called "HQ" wav sound files don't really get my point. Sound processing in the sim is excellent and I bet you will not hear any difference between wav and compressed ogg. Things that really matter are the sound sources, in other words where the sounds came from (movies / other games, was it recorded with a high end mic?). And after that the extend of editing it had to undergo. In other threads people claim that they want to keep the "HQ" wav files from the original game because of their quality. Not knowing that some of the original sound files (like planewind/planeafterburner) are in fact terrible quality. And only thanks to the new 3D sound engine and processing the sounds sound "ok". I think making two versions of your soundpack is totally useless Diveplane. But at the end it's your choice ofcourse. Keep up the great work you are doing. Keep up the great work you are doing. reason i made the videos was to prove that the sounds work and are realistic, very close to real life, however youll never emulate true audio doppler effects without hard coded EAX trickery, and that takes a very big chunk of processing alone. third time lucky, ED yep say it again did a fine job tidying the audio engine up. but the aircraft stock audios are absolute terrible sounding. if OGG format work better for performance then i will convert . no harm having 2 versions of the files though. i agree both formats are high quality as well. Sawamura Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I got a little taste of Frazers soundmod, he's was working on. The Su-27 sounds even better than real. Cant wait for the soundmod, you guys are working on.
Mustang Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Question i want to raise, don't think it's been asked: what do the engine spool-up's sound like? all the examples we've been shown let us hear the engines as they're running.
Frazer Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 It will be for sure better than the original spoolup sound, though fully real is not possible in FC2 seen that the spoolup sound is basically the frontengine soundfile being accelerated from 0. But again, when real (high pitched static jet engine) records of decent quality are thrown in it will sound much better than the original.
