That afterburner sound from Falcon is indeed very good to use in Lockon, but one thing that has always been missing in lockon is good approaching jet sounds.

The lockon sound engine pitches up and pitches down sounds as you flyby which is quite a pain in the ass to get right (the pitch up). I hope you get that right Diveplanes because I wasn't able to so far.

Great sounds in that clip but quite useless since you barely hear sounds with a heavily sound filtering helmet on. ED is pretty close with their CockpitSystems.ogg (taken from a F15) to what you hear inside a cockpit with a helmet on.

What could be used is the CockpitAfterburner.ogg from this clip but then again ED is not far off with their CockpitAfterburner sound. The only thing is that ED made it ridiculously loud.

In reality, you rather feel the afterburner than hear it. But ok, we can not feel it so it must be made audible.

Depends if I jack the bass up on my headphones I can definitly feel the afterburner

You'll feel deaf shortly after:music_whistling: And possibly, a slight inner ear itch.

agree with you in some respects yep, but having very little sound inside the cockpit will be quite boring though.

sound is now perfect for externals and viewing like what we would hear in real life, spectate viewing. =real audio samples in the game now, video clip was showing the new external audio which is spot on imo now or very close to the real jets .

ED have done a nice job on the audio code this time, hardly hear these inside the jet, again they did the mistake though of having very weak default ingame aircraft sounds though, imo not realistic sounding at all.

there is sliders in the options for noise levels in cockpits so no big deal, so if someone wants it more realistic have it silent inside the cockpit to simulate helmet wear then just tweak your audio slider levels.

will make another clip shortly , stay tuned.

thx for all the positive comments guys, thank you.

sounds good!

Hello Sound modders. It would be nice to have sounds like APU, F-16(nice idle sound), harrier (nice spool...) or a blasting F-18 Flyby sound. Radio mod like real redflag calls... would be cool too (got some if you need)....on top a original aural warning test sound.:music_whistling: will record some sounds on ila 2010. some examples:

Seen the simplicity and limited sound files available in LockOn, it is not possible to make everything sound fully real (like we all wish). The only thing modders can do is replace existing sound files by others.

Spooling up for example, is simply the idle jet sound speeding up from 0 to 100%.
