I completed my first ever edited DCS video. It's for my almost completed campaign. Just a teaser.

Some campaign details;

 

-10 stages

-50 missions.

-I test each mission individually and in many cases I have to fly it several times, so it takes a while lol

I felt sleepy:P I would choose rather watching Bold and beautiful with Brooke and Ridge drama lol

 

Dunno what IMHO movie FPS are low and you especially slowed down film, for me there is no action at all. Music is nice but sleepy too. :)

It's one thing to give someone constructive critisism, it's another to make fun..good job Boberro...not sure how you got 231 rep with that attitude.

It's one thing to give someone constructive critisism, it's another to make fun..good job Boberro...not sure how you got 231 rep with that attitude.

 

I don't know how to say in another way that I felt sleepy? Maybe "I was feeling nostalgic calmness and fanciful boredom when my eyelids accidentially dropped down"?

 

I said what I felt and I am not gonna change facts that are for me:

 

- unnecessary slow down video

- almost no action due to slow down - especially with Mi-24 and Vikhr

- music is even nice

- movie FPS is low

- you moved camera manually in few times

 

Overall I would go watch one of the next "exciting" mile-long episode of serie.

Again, not nessesary. Your trying too hard to be funny. That is the ONLY reason why you wrote that. What's wrong with saying "It's making me sleepy?"

I liked the beginning graphics and music that set the nice atmosphere.

But I think it was too long for teaser if that was the goal? Slowmo looks nice but dont use it too much.

Good job! i really liked the camera angles :) did you record in slow time in black shark and then speed it up in the editor to get better FPS? if so try a little faster speed in editor maybe? i have done this technique as well but accadentally realized after i finished the movie it was just a little too slow LOL oops... :P good work though! i like er and i cant wait to try the campaign! :D

Thanks. My PC - Q6600 @2.4Ghz can't handle much...so I used slow-mo a lot so you guys wouldn't notice the bad FPS....not much I can do about it right now....already started building a new PC :-)

 

After watching it several times over again I found the same problems ..... the manual camera movements - I can't believe I let them slip....hahah. Also, as Boberro mentioned, there is not enough action.

 

Really appreciate the input - hoping my next vid with be better :-)

The fps wasn't *that* terrible for this movie. And all you could do is simply slow the game down in-game, and speed the footage up 100% during editing to double the fps and get normal playback. :)

 

For the video itself, the slow mo is a little overused, though it fit with the music at some parts. Some good angles were used as well, to keep the viewer interested, so that's a plus.

 

For a first movie, it's not bad! :)

got to agree to some of boberro's points. specially i found the music to be disconected from what happened in the scenes.

 

However, looking forward to trying your campaign once you got it completed.

Isn't there now a video render thingie that lets you render movies to frame rate? (not in real time, obviously)

Well done for your first video. I liked it, moody with the music and its good to see sim videos with a soundtrack style of music rather then Heavy Metal. I think you did a fine job.

 

What I have found with fan sim movies is that 3 minutes is all you really need. To compress as many cool explosions or building tempo within the first 30 secs. Then pow, kill the bad guys and then fly or limp home. Like a mission report in 3 minutes. Anyway, just something to think about.
