I had some leftover wood from a recent shed I built... so I spent about an hour and made a pit... sort of...

Thanks Hitch!

I know it looks hideous now, but I just had to have something.

I will say, even as simple as mine is, it makes flying a different experience. I can't really describe it, but it is just better. :)

I plan on adding on to it as I have time. Once I find a setup I like, I am going to paint it all black. If I really really like it, which I think I will, I will build a more presentable one, and probably use metal as well as wood.

I made the seat part of the frame now. I am also going to make the sides where the HOTAS and mouse etc sit much wider. You can see my prototype on the right side. The rudder pedals are now secure and don't move around.

Next steps are to finish the sides, add a cup holder (extremely important), add some hooks for trackir hat and headset, then paint or stain everything.

Trust me, I'll post quality pics the next time I work on it. My man cave is dark (it's a cave lol) and my iPhone don't have flash.

Here are the latest pics of the pit. I cut new sides for it and mounted them on hinges so it can fit through doorways and also not take up so much space when I'm not using it.

I plan on boxing the frame in to make it look a little neater, and painting the frame gray and staining the visible wood black.

To make it easier to move around, there is a large handle on the back. I'm going to add wheels to the front so you can lift it up the back and the front will be on the wheels. (think wheelbarrow)

The seat cushions are from a regular roll-around office chair. The bottom cushion is mounted onto the metal frame from a pressure washer. The pressure washer frame also makes up the handle on the back. It actually worked out really well!

Looking better all the time man. Have you found out why your FPS drops when moving your inputs to the 2nd card? Also are you running both cards SLI? or separate.

Thanks! I still haven't figured out why the frames drop when moving both secondary monitors to the 2nd card. I really haven't even messed with the setup since I got it working last winter. I'll probably mess with it some more once they release DCS A-10C.

Krebs20 That's great you got her to fly the blackshark. But can she park it?

My wife won't take the time to learn... but here is a girl that can actually fly it somewhat well, and yes, she can "park it" :pilotfly:

Is this seat stolen from the neighbor car ? :D

I was wondering if a good seat from a wrecked car could do the job, much more confortable than deskchairs.

Nice squadron you have, now.... do you have a redhaired with green eyes by any chance ?

Yes I normally use that FOV. Right now I'm in the process of setting up 19" LCDs on each side of the main monitor. I'll post up the results once I get everything running smoothley.

The seat is from a typical office chair. I have seen some people use car seats and they work well.

I'll do my best to find a green eye redhead. :)

Is it you, or is it the place you live that allows you to just go and find a good-looking girl to sit in your simpit and hold your joystick? Or are you drugging them?:D

EDIT: I know one of them is your wife, but still.

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

I asked cause such small FOV = extremely small view what is going on outside. In chopper wide view is important :P

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D
