So I just spent a good 5 minutes trying to work out why my shark was behaving strangely..I tried to land and it just wouldn't do it, so I get some altitude and start trouble shooting...

Are the autopilot stabilisers on? Yep...

Engines running normally? Yup

Trim set? Yep...

Maybe my joystick is screwed? It is a logitech after all...

Then I think to change to outside view..Absolutely no prizes for working out why it was acting strangely!

That was my first encounter with damage that didn't either make my heli shake like crazy until I hit the floor (what is that anyway?) or outright obliterate me in mid air! Excellent :D

I must agree: damage modeling in BS is great, and there is lots of variety, too. My favorite when I first started flying BS was when I got to the runway and couldn't take off. I checked the outside view twice before I noticed the rotor disk looked smaller than usual - turns out I clipped them off taxiing too close to a bunker. And, sure enough, I move the view back along my track and there are the tips of my rotor blades lying on the ground! - a really nice touch...

You must have at least heard something go "Bang"? No way for the pilot to see the tail from the cockpit, and there is no "Tail missing" EKRAN message. I wonder if the Laser Warning system self test would fail with damage like this (since one of the sensors is shot off)?

It holds the yaw and pitch vanes that feed information to their respective autopilot channels. No noseboom=no autopilot.:joystick:

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

Once I lost my right wing but didn't noticed immediately, since I was on auto-hover and it held the chopper in place. When I started forward movement I noticed an excessive yawing, but thought it was my rudder pedals misbehaving...

Then I look at the weapons panel - I have only 6 vikhrs? And only the left ones? :D

Usually that's when part or parts of the main rotor blade(s) are missing. From a sudden change in attitude/movement and the blades collide or get shot out or you tap a building or something.

Parts of the blades missing is bad, really bad, balance-wise that is and will make the aircraft shake like an iPhone in a blender.

I love the damage model in BS. So many things can go wrong and really make you feal like your in a real aircraft with all the dangers. I just wish trees were solid, that's all.
