HitchHikingFlatlander Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Who the heck flying a modern fighter give chase thru city streets? Is this like Hot Shots where the pilot stops and gets groceries? Although I do love good looking destruction sequences! http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
SilentEagle Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Who the heck flying a modern fighter give chase thru city streets? Is this like Hot Shots where the pilot stops and gets groceries? Although I do love good looking destruction sequences! Well if this is Hot Shots, then that A-10 should have no problem landing in that condition. ;)
213 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 does the blackshark have bump mapping? i know it has specular mapping, but it'd be great to see all the rivet details.
nemises Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I like to think of it like this. My personal satisfaction comes from reading and understanding the briefing, starting up my bird on the ramp, taxi to takeoff and takeoff. Navigate myself however long it takes to get to the target area, find the targets and begin my attack runs. The explosions I induce over my enemy will usually be at standoff range, so all the fire and debris really won't be witnessed all to clearly anyhow. Once mission objectives are complete I will RTB, land and taxi to parking. That gives ME the ultimate immersion and satisfaction. If Ace combat had bland explosions, it would be a VERY shallow/boring game since it really doesn't require any skill at all to get a kill. ED seem to be making very good progress with their second installment in the series. New map, interactive training, radio chatter to name but a few. PS: Everything you see inside that A-10C model there has working, simulated virtual parts that are living and breathing in the sim, not the case with Ace Combat. In agreement, and celebration of your excellent post ! ......you are going to FREAK OUT at the detail in this thing....
Vekkinho Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 ...so she cannot fly w/o wings?!! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sobek Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 ...so she cannot fly w/o wings?!! Define "without" ;) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
amalahama Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Define "without" ;) Can I do it? Can I do it? Please please! Without prep. Not having; lacking: a family without a car. Not accompanied by; in the absence of: volunteered without hesitation; spoke without thinking. Well, what's my prize? Regards!
roob Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Nice! My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... But watch and (maybe) learn something :)
Bwaze Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I think the damage modelling would look more realistic by adding better smoke effect to the damaged aircraft - right now the heavily damaged aircraft's centre is engulfed in flames, which emits smoke. Usually the images and videos of aircraft collisions and AA missile strikes show at first white smoke emitting from damaged areas - fuel from internal tanks, and sometimes vapour trails due to disturbed airflow. And when the damaged aircraft is engulfed in flames, this flame is usually not centred on the middle of the fuselage.
tusler Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 That pilot is hardcore...He has not ejected yet:huh: I truly find it amazing that we can get this level of programing expertise for $49.95 with the finished product. Even the US mail does not provide this great a bargain. Mind you I am not complaining but merely grateful. Ask Jesus for Forgiveness before you takeoff :pilotfly:! ratherbegliding Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Looks fantastic!!! One thing I would also like to see is proper smoke clouds - reaching up several thousand feet for big fires (oil refineries, factories etc) and taking the appropriate time to dissipate. This is shaping up to be a classic sim!! Keep up the good work ED! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intel i5 / 16gb RAM / Nvidia GeForce 1080Ti / Viewsonic 28" monitor / TM Warthog / TM Elite rudder pedals / TrackIR5 First flight sim: Psion 'Flight Simulator' (ZX Spectrum 48k)
digitaljjd Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I think it's looking pretty awesome, I'd personally like to see blood on the canopy with that level of damage, (if the pilot is dead) extra visual effects are always cool, but this isn't an A-10 explosion simulator, your supposed to bring your ride back. I'd rather ED focus on flying.
