If you mastered DCS A-10C, could you hop into the real thing, run it up, and fly it?

Yes, the A-10 does have an autopilot. However, I don't know if you can couple it to an ILS.

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

You cannot, it is att/alt/alt-hdg hold only, IIRC.

Let's be honest here........who would want to? Take it on an unauthorized joy-ride, that is. I mean hell, assuming that you manage to return to terra firma as God intended you to be (with all digits et al attached), do you have any idea of the extent of hurt that awaits from the powers-that-be? Personally i would have no idea of the extent of suffering you'll endure, but an evening with Queen Ranavalona I would probably be preferable!

Thanx but no thanx.....I'd rather spectate happily from the flight-line, alternatively indulge my nuances with DCS:Hog :)

INSTANT WIN!!!

Chuck Norris has no need to master anything to be able to fly the Hog whenever he feels like. He will get up in the morning or whenever he feels like and be picked up by the Base Commander in a Limo, driven by the pilot of the Hog Chuck has decided to try.

After humbling the Commander with HIS wartime stories, he will arrive to the base where the ground crew will pick him up and carry him on their shoulders until comfortably seated on the cockpit. He will be served hot coffe there, by the youngest daughter of the Chief Mechanic, while his plane is readied for him.

It will take him the slightest of nods to get the engines to start themselves, and a stare will suffice to have the Hog taxi to the runway. Only at this moment He will get a grip of the controls, and holding them firmly he will whisper "Don´t. Spill my coffe.". He will then release the stick and the Hog will take off, perform never before seen aerobatics, reach Mach 4 at 5 mts AGL, find Osama and bring him to public trial, and land.

He will leave the base on foot, carrying the GAU-8 on his shoulders, since it, as he appreciated, would look nice hanging over the fireplace.

Jack Bauer wanted to participate in all this but got stuck in traffic. Maybe next time.

My mission is to fly, fight, and win. o-:|:-o What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie sausage roll.

Depends on how well you demonstrate your abilities. In this fantasy world the question is posed in, if you perform with ace skills, I am sure "they" would see the usefulness in your abilities and resourcefullness and sign you up for a special black ops assignment that you are uniquely qualified for. At least that is how the movie plot usually progresses. There are no consequences in fantasy land. :pilotfly:

Absolutely correct!:D

It has attitude hold? As in, roll I can roll into a bank, engage it, and it will hold the bank angle? Or is that functionality limited to the precision engagement system associated with the cannon?

Gah, I hate having to correct myself, but it happens ;)

It's PATH, not attitude as I had first thought.

I've never heard of a path hold, what does that do exactly?

There is no mention of the cause in the press release may be some one can find the accident report for a complete explanation o end the speculation.

I have no idea, but here is the only other pic I could find. I bet that crew chief was pissed.

what are those marking that look like a "2"? the one below AF78, and the other one like it.

They are standard markings, some indicate rescue panel, other indicate servicing ( like fuel or hydraulic) I'm trying to look in Google see if I can find a good series of photos that explain them

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Wow, look how much of the vertical tails ground off! It almost ground off the entire radar altimeter sensor!

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

So path hold and attitude hold are one in the same? Is GG or Viper correct?

The Radalt antennas are usually on the fuselage of an air craft just behind the cockpit in a small air craft and between the wings and tail on larger aircraft IE C-141. Not sure if the antenna would have been there or not.

Now where is that speed brakes control again?

[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Yes, that is a radalt antenna. The system combines the inputs from the ones facing downwards and the ones facing to the sides to come up with a more accurate altitude when in a bank.

Scabers it has been said that you were a master maintainer surly not on the A-10 aircraft. When you don't seam to know where the Radar altimeter antennas were places on the aircraft .

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Posted

PATH: Tries to hold your vector/path (FPI) where you left it when you engaged.

ALT/HDG: Tries to hold altitude and heading.

ALT: Tries to hold altitude and bank angle.

PATH and ALT/HDG are limited to 10deg of bank, IIRC.

So path hold and attitude hold are one in the same? Is GG or Viper correct?

Aye - so it is.

LASTE panel has 3rd mode as ALT when it refers to Altitude+Bank angle hold, which caused 'confusion' at first. Other two are self-explanatory in their description.

Okay, I understand that now. Is there any mechanism at all for it to follow a flight plan?

does the double trigger hold work? Like first depression is steady the jet, second depression fires? Does this function in DCS A-10C
