airdog Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Not so much the LCD's but they make switch panels...maybe i'll score a CDU panel with a typo or something...u just never know. Hell im tempted to send them an email and ask what they do with their blemished products and see if i can dig thru their scrap. saskcan Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Hi, I just want to say thanks for posting the photos and information. I have recently decided to begin an A10-C pit project and am doing some research to get ideas. I have read the entire thread with great interest over the last 2 days and am looking forward to the upcoming posts

doright Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Deadman, do you have any pictures of the landing gear handle mechanism. The part behind the panel that is. Thanks
Deadman Posted December 13, 2012 Author Posted December 13, 2012 No I don't at this time https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Deadman Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Does any one know the NSN or part number of the POLARITY Switch/ boat switch on the throttle?Or its cap? https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Deadman Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 Well guys I think its time to get some advice on IO bards options. What are you guys using to interface switches toggles rotaries and push buttons, indicator lights and instruments air cors or servos ? I will have a major update on a resent acquisition by the middle of next month. Time for a road trip  https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Hansolo Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Hi Deadman, I am using a combination of: Leo Bodnar BBI-32 and BU0836X Phidgets 1031 LED output board (now replaced by 1032) Brydlings B256A13 board with some home made break out board. Got a few pictures of the break out boards here, which are quite simple: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1800098&postcount=2 Primarily I am using Leo Bodnar boards for rotary encoders, where as everything else is connected to Brydlings board. Brydlings board need diodes in order to have more inputs energized at the same time but it is a very small price for getting a large numbers of inputs. Phidgets board is of cause for output, primarily for Caution panel but also Gun Ready etc. Future wise I might try using an Arduino Uno with an Ethernet sheild for additional outputs. Deadman Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 Thanks for the Information HMA I have been thing of using brydling system and the phidgets board . what are you controlling with rotary encoders (ADI, HSI) ? https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Hansolo Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Hi DM, I am using rotary encoders for: ADI - pitch trim HSI - course set & heading set Altimeter - pressure set knob VHF AM/FM & UHF - Frequency selector knobs & volumen (not used it for preselect channel yet). Maybe I'll change volume into a potentiometer instead which would release additional inputs for preselect instead. ILS - channel adjust plus volume I plan to use it for TACAN also Reason for using Leo Bodnar boards are that there isn't any software to Brydlings board which can handle rotary encoders. On the Leo Bodnar web page there is SW where you can configure the use of rotary encoders in pairs of two inputs. It is very easy to setup. BHawthorne Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 This is worth a trip to the Pima Air and Space museum. They have save the A-10A cockpit from the Terminator Salvation movie. It has gone through some restoration only 2 pictures possibly some one in the Tucson area can stop by and get some pictures:thumbup: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=156480817723603&set=a.117848551586830.7774.107082149330137&type=1&theater http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=156481237723561&set=a.117848551586830.7774.107082149330137&type=1&theater Yep, it's about the best access someone can get of an A-10 fuselage. They also have another A-10 in the same building but it's the full aircraft up on it's own gear -- which makes it a bit more difficult to get technical details from. I've got around 30 photos of the fuselage on the cradle back in 2010 when I was coming back from L.A. to Wichita. I spent the morning at Pima and then took the boneyard bus tour.
Deadman Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 (edited) Thanks I have a feeling I will be picking your brain shortly. First I think I may need to sell a few thing to upgrade the old computer. I will have a major update on a resent acquisition by the middle of next month. Time for a road trip  Hi DM. My rig is OpenCockpits boards currently with only exception an Arduino for running the CMSP with gremlins script. Inputs are toggles (2 and 3 pos), rotaries, Gray Encoders and potentimeters. Outputs are 7-Segment boards, LEDs and also relay control for the Mag Switches. One servo only ;-) so far for the Flap indicator. No air-cores implemented yet, started experimenting with an Arduino but no real progress yet. The advantage of Opencockpit boards and SIOC (OC's event driven database) is somewhat low portcost when expanding the system and the rich amount of add-on cards. Buying the bords as kits to solder reduces the cost further. One drawback when interfacing DCS with OC/SIOC is the LUA scripting package that can seem a bit complex. - - - -
Deadman Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 HI Gus so then you don't use Gadroc's Helios? https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Pick away if needed, DM :) I'll be monitoring the "for sale" thread for any aircraft parts then... :music_whistling: Cheers Hans 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
Duckling Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 HI Gus so then you don't use Gadroc's Helios? Hi. Both yes and no currently. I have Helios installed but deactivated currently, all scripts are modified to run with Helios but since I used helios only for visual instrumentation I dectivated it when upgrading to version 2.6 to ease the task for troubleshooting and also to get a bit more fps. I aim for at least the engine instruments to use air-cores but the fallback plan is to use Helios for those. Still stuck on the ILS control frequency input. It works fine when decrement values but I'd prefer to have the setup correct. If I only could deschiffer the 'darn' gain value handling for clickable LUA i'd be a happy nerd :-) SIOC script for VHFs adjusted vs 2.6 and swapped from generating the frequency within SIOC to export the qauds controll settings into the 7 segments displays. - - - -

agrasyuk Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 that is starting to sound like a pain in the Ass Gus Says the man who casts his own translucent knobs and builds with real instruments :) Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
whartsell Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I have been using Helios exclusively as well as Gadroc's EOS hardware/firmware. There are still some rough edges to take care of but so far it works great. Right now i build my own boards by hand but EOS compatible boards will be available in the near future ;) Arduino,EOS and Helios Tutorial Static ATC menu mod
Deadman Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 The crazy hard stuff of building will get easyer in the next couple of weeks if your looking to build a replica. If there is enuff demand on knobs I will cast sets again. If your lookng for real instruments I will have some thiing for sale soon https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
