Well, most time demo's I've come across don't have a key. You install it on your computer, and it lets you run the game for so much time. After the time is up, it won't let you run it anymore. Seems pretty simple to me.

I mean, really guys. I don't see how your company survives selling to only the handful of really hard core flight simmers who can afford cougar hotas and such. I myself use an old interlink elite controller that was used to train radio control airplane pilots. Works good, the only downside being there is no fire button :P. It gets fun. And I don't mind playing at very low graphics, its just that most people, including me, aren't going to buy a high priced game without a playing a demo of it first. We want to make very sure we are getting our money's worth for that price.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it works the way you want it to ... sorry. Not everyone has a TM setup but a lot of people do have some form of HOTAS. If your specs are that low, you might indeed have a lot of difficulty running A-10C.

And those 'demos' are pretty easy to get around. ED dropped the demo scheme a long time ago, and AFAIK it isn't coming back.

Honestly - I burst into a fit of giggles every time this comes up :music_whistling:

How is $60 considered a 'High-Priced Game' if the average price for a new release title is £34-99 to £44-99 ($55 - $72) depending on platform?

Then you're simply not the target market for this kind of game. If you can't tell it's amazing from the videos and reviews and posts that's a shame. But it doesn't mean that time should be taken away from development to cater to people who probably can't or won't even play it (or pay for it) anyway. :pilotfly:

Well, no demo, and I will pass. I get the feeling this sim is going to take more power than Arma2, which is the current king at sucking power (even greater than Crysis ). If that is the case, than you can forget most people buying this sim. The average computer will just not be able to run it. Unfortunately, this is why Crysis kind of bombed. No one had enough power to play it, even though it was a great game. Hence, why the average joe really wants to see a demo before he buy's it. Not fun spending a ton of money on something and then not being able to run it.

My computer is average. Yours is way below that today. In fact mine is low-end average.

But yes, you're right - not a point in getting it if it won't run well on your computer.

Yeah, if you ever put out a demo, me and a lot of others will see if it can run on our computers on not, then consider buying it. Till then, I think I'll stick with Arma 2.

Logan, to be honest, if you are not a fan of high fidelity flight sims (and I doubt you are a fan of any flight sim even arcade one since you don't even have a joystick) then don't think about buying this sim.

$60 for study sim like DCS series is nothing if you ask me... and yes... flight sims like this do require time to learn them and good PC hardware and flight sim peripherials to fly them and that does cost money.

So it's not a question of Demo (there are plenty of youtube videos of the Beta and screenshots so you can see what game looks like) it's a question of weather you have the passion for it... and to me it doesn't seem you do.

Oh, I'm a flight simmer of old, ever since Falcon AT. But there's no way I can justify spending $200 up on a HOTAS setup. That would break me. Too many other important things like rent and food. Besides, hitting the space bar with your big toe to fire isn't as bad as it seems.

@Logan

you are actually not the kind of simmer whos playing those games. Simmer like us dont ask for a demo, they ask for a releasedate (and sometimes will be surprised). That you put your

main focus on other things than buying new hardware just shows how much you are not a simmer like we are. Even if you dont earn much money, so you could save money each month to get respective Hardware. But cause you dont feel like to be, so you dont.

I recommend you:

Dont continue any discussion, keep on playing Games you prefer most. To buy a game you probably wouldn´t like (be able to play) would just make you upset.

I know a lot of you that bought it "blindly" are rich by my standards, and probably many others, so the people like me will wait for a demo. I don't drop $60 blindly on anything. That's like a month's worth of food to me. When you decide you want to sell to the people like me, put out a demo, and we'll take a look at it. Since its just one big map, I suggest a timed demo. 10 days limit would be fine.

Well, when someone says I do something “blindly” I don’t take that lying down.

To say those of us who have pre-bought the Beta are “blind” then you need to back that kind of talk up.

We have bought because we have “seen” the potential of the new DCS and have “experienced” the quality of the past ED products. That is faith, yes, but not “blind” faith as it has evidence and experience to back it up. That IMO is “justified” faith. Whole different matter.

As for all the,”it’s too expensive” and “my computers too slow”, those arguments are completely pointless as the former are driven by the worldwide markets which ED don’t control and the latter are a by-product of your working conditions which again, ED don’t control, (unless you are an ED employee ;))

So you can have a go about there not being a demo, (which has already been answered), but please leave others “faith”, the pro’s and con’s of worldwide capitalism and your own personal financial situation out of it.

Cheers

Me too. Its like coming into a bar and hearing the last bit of your favourite tune playing and you think "cool, worth the walk", then the jukebox cuts out, the bar closes and you realise that you really did leave the house wearing only a hat.

..oops, wrong forum ;)

anyway, CG scared the troll away so I guess we had better start talking about the beta again.

..... so, when's the nextSLAP

Lol, look at all the chumps calling ME a troll. Get a life guys.

Oh...We have a life, how should we else be able to get hardware which rocks the game? Here are peoples around who have family and are working hard for their hobby...so what are you doing...always crying around for a Demo and messing around with your financial situation and poor hardware....is that supposed a life you recommend?...Hmmm...no thanks..I like my life as it is!

that was the sarcasm answer...here comes the real one...

But I do agree with the guys: you dont really sound like the kind of person this sim is aimed at, sorry...

Nothings more to add...

Dang, and I just got here. :D

me too ;)

The open beta has been an amazing experience for me. I don't know HOW, but flying the A-10C has actually made me a better/more deadly KA-50 pilot. I find when I take a bit of a break from the learning, I can come back to a different level of understanding of certain procedures. It's as if I've suddenly become an expert at one thing or another.

Well first off hello to this great community. and secondly I am in a dillema.

Should I purchase the Beta2 or wait for the full release? I'm in a hell all of my own here. I have seen the latest Youtube vids of this awesome sim and am awe-struck again by the detail thats gone into this high tech sim.

This thing could be used to train real pilots in the USN and ASAF without the need of buying a million dollar simulation unit...DCS would piss it !

I am currently playing Rise of Flight and KA-50...still love the Blackshark, with all the mods running never get bored of it.

Well I will be pacing around for a while thinking about this...sooo tempted you know....aarghh ! :bounce:

There are old pilots, there are bold pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots.
