Druid_ Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Maybe its time to put a little pressure on NaturalPoint to release some nice shiny 64 bit drivers for us to play with. http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06-support/contact/ Even if your not using a 64 bit version of windows, it would be appreciated it if you could put a request in on the above customer support link. Pizzicato Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Are there workarounds for the problem? For instance, can you install the 32 bit version of DCS A-10 on Vista 64 or Win7 64 and have TrackIR work or are you completely hooped if you're running a 64 bit OS? If you are in a 64bit OS, you can run the 32bit exe no problem. EDIT:- Just remember to tick the 32bit box when installing, so you have both 64bit and 32bit versions installed (it takes up less than ~60mb to add 32bit IIRC ) Nate Edited October 4, 2010 by Nate--IRL-- Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

My apologies, Vince, but NP needs to look at this shortly. Thanks for posting. But, as a long time TIR user it is time to modernize things here. Else the first competitor to release 64 bit support is gonna trample you. We all KNOW that 64 bit is the future so why not get ahead of the curve? Again, please, get on it. NaturalPoint - Seth Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Hi all, I just spoke with one of our lead developers, and he confirmed to me that TrackIR development will be starting up very soon. 64-bit application interoperability will be the first item on the list. Thanks for your patience. We'll hopefully have something out to you guys to play with pretty soon. For more info/discussion, feel free to chime in on our forums: http://forum.naturalpoint.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=43911#Post43911 -Seth 2

Yskonyn Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the quick reply, Nate. The 64-bit TIR software is just a 'nice to have' then, to complete the package and start using the 64-bit A-10 client. But by no means needed, I understand? What would be the benefit for a 64-bit client then anyway? Is it just to make the sim future proof? NaturalPoint - Seth Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 You hit someone with the A10 and it's going to be a headshot, legshot, armshot, torsoshot, all in one. I can't argue with that.
Inferno Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Shouldn't be too hard to churn out a 64-bit TirackIR client. I imagine it will mostly require some compiler option changes with minimal code changes.
