GAJ52 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I am hanging on for the finished product, but some of the posts on the beta version look very interesting. Is it worth me getting the Beta or wait for the finished product ? Gaj GAJ52 Intel i7-7700K @ 4.60GHz | 32 GB Ram | Win 10 Pro 64 | GTX 1080i 11.00MB | Saitek X52 Pro
Arclight Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 You are buying the finished product, access to beta is just ("just") a pre-order bonus. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS A-10C: putting the 'art' into 'warthog'. (yes, corny. Sorry.)
Steel Jaw Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Get it now. Do it. You can start learning to master this wonderful machine of death. Even in beta it's very impressive. "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB.
Zenra Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 IMO you have nothing to lose, unless you are on the fence about ever buying alltogether. The beta is very good and provides all kinds of opportunity to try things out and learn the systems. I doubt you will save any money by waiting, and pre-purchasing supports ED in the effort, which benefits us all. Zenra Intel i7 930 2.8GHz; ATI HD5850 1GB; 1TB Serial ATA-II; 12GB DDR3-1333; 24 x DL DVD+/-RW Drive; 800W PSU; Win7-64; TM Warthog HOTAS
Steel Jaw Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Do it. You know you wanna. "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB.
Bulletstop Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 and you can help catch things and that benefits every one :). Bullet I7 4790K running at 4390 with a gigabyte board with 16 gigs of ram with an Asus gtx 660-ti and 2 tb of hard drive space on 2 wd hard drives. A X-65F Hotas with trackir4 and pro combat peddles. A kick butt home built machine unfortunately running a windows 7 OS.
Thurston Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Do it! You won't regret it. No way will you be dissapointed.
Cooch Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 IMHO, well worth it. There are some things not up to speed, but certainly giving me tons of fun and the opportunity to play it now. Running an i5 2500K OC'd to4.7, 8g DDR3 Ram, 2TB HD space, Diamond 6670 Video, X52 Pro Stick setup.
Zenra Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 <snip> You pretty much were buying a "beta" style version on launch day. <snip> Couldn't have said it better - I feel most "final" software I buy today is in fact unfinished, requiring multiple patches to make it right. I think the beta DCS A-10C is very good, and know I will be very happy with the released product as well. Zenra Intel i7 930 2.8GHz; ATI HD5850 1GB; 1TB Serial ATA-II; 12GB DDR3-1333; 24 x DL DVD+/-RW Drive; 800W PSU; Win7-64; TM Warthog HOTAS
MadTommy Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I remember Falcon 4.0 on launch day, it was pretty much a wreck that eventually got patched nicely. You pretty much were buying a "beta" style version on launch day. Indeed.. this beta is more complete than Rise Of Flight was after several patches. As said before.. if you plan on buying it anyway, get it now, well worth it. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. TM Warthog, Saitek combat pro pedals, TrackIR 4
andysim Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 The more ppl that try out the beta the better for ED. To be honest as said above its as good in beta as some games are at thier release. You really have nothing to lose.:joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick::joystick:

Is it worth me getting the Beta or wait for the finished product ? Gaj I was in the exact same position as you until yesterday. Then I finally broke down and dusted off the credit-card....:surrender: Having lots of fun with it. Very rough in places, and your CPU will be screaming for mercy but this is one of those sims with a guaranteed long life.

Pigmachine Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I actually like Black Shark a lot! I'm not sure I can go back to flying thingies that can't stop in midflight, pop down behind a building, and turn in a nanosecond! That is what's keeping me from running for my wallet howling with insane 'gotta-have-it-now' laughter. 159th_Viper Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Meh...BS gave me migrains and nightmares. The Shark is fun for those long-range hunts - 2 externals, Vikhrs and a coupla hours spare and you're good to go! Still remember the WTF!!!'s on chat in a MP server when I was holed up behind a hillock sniping the OPFOR's Airbase SAM systems from 8k's out - the mad scrambles had me laughing so hard I grounded the bird on egress and had to walk home.....:music_whistling: :D Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? robmlufc Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I really like the Shark, I like the way the systems are that little bit differant to western systems and im not used to flying a chopper. Its a powerful beast when put to good use. But yeah, get A10C its equally awesome in a more western polished way! And you will get upto speed on the systems for when the final release is out.
Zenra Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I'll keep flying the Shark, too. Sneaking over ridge lines and between buildings gets my blood pumping every time.
