Can you lock the Gun to the target? Currently my gun recticle moves has I'm approaching the target in a shallow dive. Is there a way to lock the gun recticle so it stays the target instead of moving?

The reticle goes where you point the jet, so being able to lock would not be good unless you like ramming your target.

This is not an apache gun that can swivel, the jet is the gun so just learn to fly through the target. :D

PAC-1 stabilizes the reticle on the target.

You cannot lock the gun onto the target in the sense that you could make the jet fly to join. The PAC system is an autopilot mode that will attempt to keep the jet stabilized in the direction it is already pointed. The autopilot is only so strong so PAC cannot "bolt you to the sky" in all situations.

He's not. This method is called the 'walk thru' in the A10 or the 'Ambush method' on the ground. Its a way of ensuring that your rounds will enter the entire Longtidual axis of the killing zone. On the ground this is the main ambush location. In the A10, it may be a series of vehicles in a muster.

As the whole Aircraft goes up a little bit due to the recoil of the 30 mm rounds....

That's the bug Sobek is referring to.

For 'walk thru' you'll have the PAC system disabled.

Weird train of thought. Why use the PAC to stabilize to one point, if it fights you in what you want to do? ;)

Why is it a Panzer III in that pic?

Why not...:)

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Com on folks! The PAC1 is important! Make it the way it is supposed to work. Nothing less nothing more. I trust ED will find the good solution to this :D

lol...that should be an example...was searching for a simple Tank image...and this was the first I got..

Dang...you´re right...

Precision Attitude Control (PAC). In PAC 1, pressing the trigger in Gun master mode will trim the

aircraft through SAS to keep the gun pipper on the target point.

May be I had to get earlier through this part in the manual..:D

So is the gun supposed to just slow down the airframe instead of pitching it up?

So to "walk through" you just leave PAC off and glide across your targets.

To hit a single target you'd enable PAC, trigger it once the piper is on the target than the plane remains flying at the target via the auto-trim and won't pitch up till you release the PAC?

I've been aiming just below the target, enabling pac, and then fire for just under 2 seconds. Now what I've seen happen when I fire is: there is an initial recoil that 'walks' the rounds up through the target, but then it begins to fall back down, and usually stabilizes on the target. I'm not sure if that is how PAC is susposed to work or if that is part of the bug.

As for locking the gau-8 (gun) on a target, no. There is no way to lock a fixed gun on a target in the a-10. This isn't the ka-50 with its slightly movable cannon. You can point the targeting pod over to the target and set an SPI which will help you locate the proper target on the hud though.

No - that is not how PAC works. PAC-2 effectively counters the 'walk-thru' effect.

Yes - that is part of the bug.

In general terms, yes, hence the Precision Attitude Control system.

Correct.

To hit a single target you'd enable PAC, trigger it once the piper is on the target than the plane remains flying at the target via the auto-trim and won't pitch up till you release the PAC?

Correct.

Keybindings are as follows:

Gun Trigger (First Stage) - P

Gun Trigger - Space

Now 'First-Stage' is PAC-1. What this does is it just 'stabilizes/trims' the aircraft to the point on the ground that your Gun-Pipper is aligned to. Aids in the wobbles so to speak - so if you're running in and stabilize the pipper with PAC-1 and you're off-center, you just take your finger off the trigger, adjust and stabilize again with PAC-1 without firing the cannon.

Now when you pull the trigger through the second stage, ie PAC-2, it is doing the same thing, ie Stabilizing in addition to firing, ie PAC-1 with Bullets.

The difference with a One-Stage trigger as opposed to a two-stage trigger is that you do not have the luxury of a 'Dry-Run' so to speak. With a single stage, where you are about to put that pipper down is where it's gonna hurt - no second chances. With the two-stage, you've got time to make sure you're on target.

That's why the manual states that you can assign it to a single-stage trigger (Space). Works and does the same job at the end of the day - just not as effective/safe. To confirm, look in HUD - assuming you have the PAC system armed (GUN/PAC) it will show PAC-2 when firing on a single-stage trigger.

Behaviour in current Open-Beta is however buggy and has since been rectified in our tester's build. You'll no doubt see that reflected in the next Open-Beta update.
