Flamin_Squirrel Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) I've produced a mission planner for the A-10. It can be used to calculate take off speeds, weights, fuel burn etc. I hope others may find useful. edit:// b1.01 available, fixes a bug with ingress/egress distance: A-10 Mission Planner b1.01.zip Alternate link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8868QEM0 Edited June 17, 2011 by 159th_Viper 11

StrongHarm Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Outstanding! Thank you very much for sharing this useful tool. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
Flamin_Squirrel Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 Glad you guys are finding it useful. I hope to add some more features such as more landing data, and I've got some ideas to make it a little more user friendly so watch this space. 1

Kaiza Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) This is frickin awesome, if I could give +2 I would. At the mo I get a crash when I try and adjust distance for ingress though. Amazing tool though, nice one. EDIT: I have to ask- how are the loiter speed/alt numbers based on AoB derived? See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.OverflowException: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow. at Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.Conversions.ToInteger(Object Value) at a10.Form1.ingressrefresh() in C:\Users\Jordan\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\a10\a10\Form1.vb:line 1197 at a10.Form1.IngRangeBox_TextChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:\Users\Jordan\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\a10\a10\Form1.vb:line 747 at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnTextChanged(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.TextBoxBase.WmReflectCommand(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) ************** Loaded Assemblies ************** mscorlib Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4206 (VistaSP2GDR.050727-4200) CodeBase: http://file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework64/v2.0.50727/mscorlib.dll ---------------------------------------- a10 Assembly Version: 1.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 1.0.0.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/Administrator/Cam/a-10%20crap/A-10/a10.exe ---------------------------------------- Microsoft.VisualBasic Assembly Version: 8.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 8.0.50727.4016 (NetFxQFE.050727-4000) CodeBase: http://file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/Microsoft.VisualBasic/8.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll ---------------------------------------- System Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4205 (VistaSP2GDR.050727-4200) CodeBase: http://file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4016 (NetFxQFE.050727-4000) CodeBase: http://file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Windows.Forms/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Windows.Forms.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Drawing Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4016 (NetFxQFE.050727-4000) CodeBase: http://file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Drawing/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Drawing.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Runtime.Remoting Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4016 (NetFxQFE.050727-4000) CodeBase: http://file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Runtime.Remoting/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Runtime.Remoting.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Xml Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4016 (NetFxQFE.050727-4000) CodeBase: http://file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Xml/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Xml.dll ---------------------------------------- ************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. GGTharos Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 A good tool, though it has some bugs (try typing in 100nm for ingress). It might be related to .net versions and all that fun stuff, too. Keep plugging away at it, add a print (to PDF too if possible!) function, and you're practically golden. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Flamin_Squirrel Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) I will look into that bug when I get home from work this evening! All the figures are basically derived from the A-10A manual. There are fuel flow graphs for climb, cruise, loiter, combat etc, just work out the time for each multiplied by the flow. A print feature, or at least something you can copy/paste from is something I plan to add shortly. Edited November 2, 2010 by Flamin_Squirrel
xjiks Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 This tool sounds absolutely great, but at the start it says "cannot find xml data file" and the payload are all empty (no choice available). I just unzipped the file and I see the Data.xml is here in the same directory as the A10.exe Any advice ? (running winXP 32bits) L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. Flamin_Squirrel Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 b1.01 available, which fixes the ingress bug http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8868QEM0 xjiks, you unziped the whole lot into a single folder? The code is fairly simple, it just looks at where the exe is and expects data.xml to be in the same place. You've not put it on a network drive or something have you?
xjiks Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Well everything's inside the same folder, all the 5 files. I downloaded version b101 and it's the same. Maybe something wrong in windows xp that can't handle. Will try later on Windows7 to see if it's better. EDIT: So as you can see on the screenshot, it's the same on windows7 -64bits Edited November 2, 2010 by xjiks L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. Flamin_Squirrel Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Hmmm, very odd indeed. Unfortunately I'm not a professional programmer, so my knowledge of what might be causing the problem is limited, especially when it's only one person experiencing the problem! I'll send you a PM to see if I can supply a solution. 1
xjiks Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I just replied to your MP, could you please also tell me what software you used to archive the package (winrar, winzip, 7zip....) ? Maybe the extract of the package causes corruption of the files ? L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] if you read this you are too curious
xjiks Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Got it working today on a French computer where I changed windows' regional settings to english (UK) So it's an OS problem, your program is OK L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre.
