The issue with running in windowed mode is that you get a serious drop in graphics performance for 2 reasons.

1. The sim is running as an application on the desktop, and all of the desktop and other application rendering is done as well.

2. Most graphics cards run in a sort of low power mode for normal desktop applications and when you run the sim in windowed mode this is what happens.

However I use softTH to make all my monitors appear as one to windows. Then you can run in full screen mode and just split up the single monitor screen into different view ports for what ever you want see there. I run a 5 monitor setup like this.

Yes!!! I make it!!! I have been eventually able to match my lua config file with the final configuration in the sim.

This is critical: When you modify graphics.cfg (or ingame), don't forget to work out the aspect ratio summing all your viewing space, not only your 3D View

Example: 1xscreen 1920x1080 at the left, 1xscreen 1920x1080 at the right.

So your resolution is 3840x1080, and your aspect ratio is 3.55!!!

In that way it should be reflected in graphic.cfg (or in the option menu ingame)

Then, in your particular config, you must use the real aspect ratio for your 3D window:

...

Center =
{
x = 0;
y = 0;
width = 1920;
height = 1080;
viewDx = 0;
viewDy = 0;
aspect = 1920/1080;
}

...

And that's it!

Regards!!

yes it should have the same as what I posted a pic of in the advance controls for monitors

in ATI

Hey Mastiff or anyone that can anwser this question......

Was having problems with my CPU so I wiped it and did a clean install. When I went to go reinstall DCS A10c I copied the Lua. file that you gave me but Im having alot of trouble getting my Right MFCD to align correctly. To refresh your memory I'm running a 27 inch main monitor at 1920x1080 and 2 7" monitors at 800x480 for the MCFD's. The left MCFD is displaying perfectly but the right is too far left justified. I know its prob only some tweaking of the code but I've tried everything and I'm beyond frustrated. Here is the lua file that I'm using.....

_ = function(p) return p; end;

name = _('MFCD');

Description = 'Left MFCD on the left monitor,Right MFCD on the right and camera on the center'

Viewports =

{

Center =

{

x = 0;

y = 0;

width = 1920;

height = 1080;

viewDx = 0;

viewDy = 0;

aspect = 1.6;

}

}

LEFT_MFCD =

{

x = 100;

y = 1080;

width = 580;

height = 480;

}

RIGHT_MFCD =

{

x = ?;

y = ?;

width = 580;

height = 480;

}

UIMainView = Viewports.Center

I'm not sure what the x and y values should be for the Right MFCD. Also I went into the CCC ATI control panel and adjusted monitors 2 and 3 under monitor 1 like you advised earlier and they are snapped to the left and right corners. Your set up was working perfectly before for over a week before I had to wipe my box:doh:

Please help.

x = 1360 (possibly)))

y = 1080

is there any specific reason many people with 1920x1080 monitors put their aspect ratio 1.6?

thanks for the reply..... I tried x 1080 and y 1080 and it left justifies the Right MFCD so much that it cuts off a sliver of the MFCD. I could have sworn that is what I had in my old setting too. I finall played around with putting different settings for the x value and got it acceptable at around x 1200ish and y 1080.....weird...

such a pain in the ass to load game....exit....make a few adjustments.......save......reload and try again....... for the future is there any better way to do this to make mini adjustments?

thanks again.

cant get output on main screen

I'm been trying to get a set up with a second monitor and have managed to get the mfd's and camera on the second monitor, however when I launch the game I get the lmfd/camera/rmfd and drag it over to the right monitor, but I have nothing left on my main screen. I have completed the setup as per the original post and despite searching endlessly cannot find the solution. i am looking for something similar to what shu77 posted earlier(my 2nd monitor is on the right).

I am running a laptop with a hdmi connect to the second monitor.

My second monitor is actually on the left as far as windows was concerned in that photo, it was just placed on the right hand side for space considerations with the desk. Now my second monitor is positioned below the main one.

What I still don't get is, that one has to drag something somewhere after starting the sim. If configured correctly, it should start with all the exported screens already where they belong.

Yeah you shouldnt need to drag anything. Have a look at the 'how to export all viewports thread which has the proper syntax for the viewport files.

Hi Strike277

I'm not a wizard with Lua's so I may not be able to help but if you could attach the one you are trying to set up that would help to see what is wrong.

So to confirm, in the Sims "Options", Resolution box you have entered 3360x1080 for the combined resolution?

Also check the refresh rate for your Acer monitor. I found on one setup I had that I had to run the right hand monitor at 75hz instead of 60hz in order to get the window to expand to the correct width. Don't know why but it solved the problem of the main screen encroaching into the the second monitor for me.

Yep, the correct res combo and I'm running in windowed mode. I'll give the refresh rate a look though. I'll let you know what happens.
