TARS isn't, perchance, working in the Hip yet, is it?

I am hoping to integrate it into the new code (SDK based). Right now there's extra code for each aircraft that I'm planning on getting rid of. The whole system is becoming more universal.

I know you've mentioned it, but perhaps going payware and/or kickstarter would help get the project moving. I'd happily buy or kick-in if it meant a more robust product.

With that said, I totally agree with Noodle, its a great product and it really helps with the immersion in this sim. Thanks for your great work!

Important Update (and part of the reason I've seemed a bit incommunicado):

TS has removed DirectInput from its latest release, so the entire input scheme for the TARS application is being converted. For the time being, don't update your TS if you want to use the multiple-PTT features of TARS. I'll get you an updated version as soon as I can.

TS' developers have stated in the past that DI would be removed, but there wasn't much warning that it would be so soon. Of course that's what everyone is saying, but we shouldn't have taken it for granted. We'll be up and running with a solution before much longer, so don't worry.

Posted

But DI is not the same as voice activation, right?

So, if I use voice activation, there should be no problems with the actual version of TARS?

Fire

DI will be used to get the keys input for anything. As a result of that, you're going to find it difficult to use DI unless you only use one radio and never switch from it. Even then, it's going to try to look for a DI instance. I haven't actually tested it yet, but my prediction is that TARS is going to quit if you try that.

Hi Headspace,

we tested TARS with a buddy, who uses Steam. In the TARS configuration panel, he has the error message "game not found".

How can find TARS the DCS folder within a steam installation?

Thanks in advance,

Fire

I'm not really familiar with TARS, as I'm waiting complete support of FC3, and even less familiar with Steam-based DCS World, but isn't TARS asking for the DCS World User folder in that screenshot, and not the game folder?

Have you tried pointing it to your $User$\Saved games\DCS folder instead?

VJS161_Fire:

Your friend needs to point the config panel at his DCS user directory, usually found in C:\Users\$USER\Saved Games\DCS.

FC3 has been supported for several months. But you're right, you want the game folder.

A lot has changed since the mod was developed.

That's true. :)

Thanks Headspace and Robin, we'll try this.

No it's not. I'm waiting for easily tunable radios in-game, specifically. That's why I said "complete".

Not being able to change frequency in-flight is a show stopper to me. Now I could do with entering the frequency in the configuration panel, because I have dual monitors, but some people I fly with don't.

Please note that I highly appreciate the amazing work you have done on TARS.

Hi guys,

this path C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\DCS is his path in the TARS control panel. With this path, TARS says "Game not found". He don't has a steam/DCS folder in the "user" folder.

Now?

Even if it says "game not found," it doesn't necessarily mean that TARS isn't installed. If everything is lit up and you see a TARS folder in your DCS user directory then you're good to go. There's a lot of code in the installer from the pre-Steam years.

Ok, but we've still the following problem:

+ I don't hear him with the "TARS voice filter" (real micro sound), nor left/ right with the selected radio (AM/ FM)

+ I hear him always on UHF sound (both ears), my options in TARS are correct set (see below).

In your thumbnail you have TARS on standby. You need to uncheck the standby box when you click on the DCS:World icon.

When in standby mode TARS does not function at all. You are probably just hearing him on normal TS.

Do what Kaiza says but in addition, check your logs--it will tell you what radio is transmitting. Also have your friend check his. This stuff is difficult to deconflict even in real life.

The standby mode was only activated, as I did the screenshot. ;)

Will try the log.
