Development update

The UAV is a very handy piece of equipment, I'd say that it will allow you in a campaign to expose units hidden from the map. You could then vector towards that area and destroy the ground targets based on this information. How about having an option in F10 view(map) where we can direct the UAV to overfly an area we suspect has targets and then get those targets to be revealed on the map.

I've never heard of any such rule. As has been stated on the official Lock On FAQ for ages:

Where does the Lock On conflict take place and when?

 

Lock On will take place in the Black Sea region and depicts a hypothetical conflict. Detailed modeling of the Crimea and Western Caucuses will be included. These regions encompass large agricultural areas, foothills, and towering mountains. The gameplay area will provide the player with a wide variety of terrain types.

 

Lock On does not take place in a specific time, but uses a variety of weapon systems that have been in service from mid-1990s to the near future. The Lock On order of battles are not meant to mimic real-world forces

 

 

 

 

 

When it first came out a long time ago, I just remember some posts asking/complaining why state of the art weapons and systems were not included. If I remember correctly, the response from one of the UBI forum mods was that it was based in the 80's, and that was why.

HMMM well good to hear...so how about we get to work on updating some of the NATO stuff since the Russian's got an upgrade...I mean this isn't set 15 years back so why not!!!! ;)

 

 

Actually the russian stuff got downgraded in some ways ;) THe 'upgrade' was in terms of realism, not in terms of 'getting better in game equipment'. I'm sure the loss of the perma-scan mode was irksome to some.

Thanks for the update ED,any screens of the chopper pits available yet?

Not yet. Cockpit in progress about 50%. I think it will done in july or august only.

Not yet too. In 1.2 will be AI UAV only but we think about human-controlled UAV. May be in next project...

Prior to 1991 there were no independant countries called "Russia", "Ukraine" or "Georigia".....they were all part of the "Soviet Union" ;) .

 

There may not have a specific time frame, but since the above mentioned countries figure as independant entities in Lock-on, we can at least conclude that the scenario must be "post" 1991 :) .

 

Not to mention that a lot of the "hardware" depicted in Lock-on didnt exist in the 80's.

I did not now ED decided to let go with their rule that LockOn is set in the '80. Does it mean we will see even more AI planes? (Starlight is right)

Great to see UAVs in the sim. How about Global Hawk next :) ?

 

What rule? As has been stated many times: Lock On takes place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. An alternate universe where in the future Spock will have a beard.

and where we all community members can be fighter pilots for our choice of nation.

 

where we can all go and damage as much civil property as we can...bridges, cars, power stations etc.....HEY!!! RAILWAYS..now thats a jackpot..

 

hope ED can make railways an addable entity in future versions. :)

 

imagine the FUN!!! A train full of gold being escorted by terrorist choppers. :D

yeah! but they are not controllable...ie., we cannot assign them as objective. and we cannot put them ourselves on the map. moving trains are only at some random parts in the map, whereas we cannot set a train to start at one point and go in a particular direction etc...in other words similar control as it is possible for ground vehicles in lomac.

another question :p ,

 

are you going to include strikemax's flanker 3d model in the sim for 1.2 ? :p

 

 

and one more thing...:P this is about fps issues... is it possible to make optimizations to engine i.e., when i have scenes to high and visibility high...even though I can't see a city which is far far away...the fps hogs by just looking in that direction.

You can assign coordinates as targets and designate railroad cars that are static on the side tracks.

 

Also, Everytime you start any mission, the moving trains always start in the same locations/stations. You just need to have Civilian Traffic turned on in the options and press Shift-F12 to cycle through them. Since they always start in the same station when any mission starts you can predict where a moving train will be and still bomb it. But you can't designate it as a target in the mission editor since it's moving. I've done this in a mission.

Thats exactly right, I've followed a couple of trains to see where they go, they add alot more to the eye candy by being there and make great moving targets.

 

One thing I'd like added to v1.2- please include the reverse throttle option for the collective.
