3Sqn_Sven
Anyone ever seen any mods to make the CH fighterstick stiffer? I've come from using a different stick for 7 years running and am very use to it, it was about a moderate stiffness, with only about have the throw of the CH axis. I'm struggling like an 80 year old without Viagra to get this thing to do what I want. Getting used to it is going to take ages so I'd rather mod it if it's something simple. And it has to be something simple...I failed shop class... 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region
Revvin
Have a look at this mod - I don't believe any lubrication is required and is within the skillset of most males :)
ZaltysZ
I do not own CH stick, but I suppose it has separate springs for every axis. This makes diagional movement require more force than moving only in one axis. The stiffer the springs, the more apparent it is, so you may not like the result. You can try adding rubber boot. The additionally required force will be even to all directions, however the more you deflect the stick, the more force you will need. It is kinda cheap to do. You just need to choose correct cv joint boot (car part), "trim" it and fit between the base and stick. http://images.outdoorpros.com/images/prod/6/Dorman-03601-rw-49035-61784.jpg Wir sehen uns in Walhalla. IvanK
Sven you need the world famous Ivankuturkokoffrubberbandmod. I came from a Cougar then Cougar ubernxt so know the issue. I knocked off the Condom mod idea and used standard Aussie newsagent rubber bands. I run 2 size 12 bands in the pitch axis and a single no 12 in the roll axis. This gives you a little more stickforce in Pitch compared to roll which is nice. In each case I put a single Double twist in each band. Just make sure that bands go inside the support. Incorrect and correct routing shown in the jpgs below. The incorrect routing works just fine btw but band failure occurs a little more often This mod is straight forward and is fail tolerant. I get about 6 months in the Pitch axis and forever in the roll axis. There is no problem with safety or risk in damaging the stick as the bands oppose the jaws you can see this in the top A labelled jpg below..... no strange smells either :) Also no issues with calibration as again the bands oppose the jaws so will auto centre everytime. Even better it is fully adjustable want more tension just add another band to suit your tastes. Its fail tolerant so when one goes the stick still works. It takes about 5 mins from go to woe to do the mod. Here are some images ... all you need: If you have any issues send me a PM and we can talk on TS or phone. 104th_Crunch
I know what you mean Sven. Felt the same, but got used to the tension after a while. I wish someone would offer a direct spring replacement that fits perfectly and gives a bit more tension.
3Sqn_Sven
My issue ATM is getting the damn screws undone. I've got a small enough screw driver but they are dug in tighter than an Alabama tic! 1 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region
Cali
I guess I'm just use to my CH, it doesn't bother me that it's so light. That mod does seem pretty cool to have it a little heavier. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
3Sqn_Sven
I got 3 screws out after I bought a new screw driver, but it's seeming likely I'll invent FTL travel before I get this 4th one out. 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region

Sokol1_br
Pictures was "kidnapped" by Imageshack or "fad out" due age (of the topic). :) But no "secret technologies" in that CH gmbal mod, is just add rubber bands or condom rings over springs ... and wear out gimbal parts at more fast rate. :music_whistling: Edited February 22, 2017 by Sokol1_br

Sokol1_br
i find my ch fighter already very stiff. i can feel myself better with cobra m5 when i fly with helicopters. Do in inverse way - a "soften" MOD, remove gimbal springs and put only weak rubber bands. :D
j-tk
All of those files seem to have been lost when they updated the server. Is there any way to improve the fighterstick Springs or gamble with better Springs, or adding in some metal Parts?
Sokol1_br
I know that some users add ball bearing in gimbal - for minimize their play for use HALL sensor, this make the gimbal more suitable for more strong springs, but the point that anchor spring may dont support too much additional tension. Want a better gimbal for CH? Baur BRD gimbals (all metal, ball bearings, dual CAM center system, easy to change springs...) http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=702&start=
