bradleyjs Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I did transient maintenance on just about every carrier in the inventory. I was never attached to the ship. The most time I ever spent onboard was probably 2 weeks. My "A" school was E-2Cs and F-14s at Mirimar. I worked on a lot of different birds though, even some italian and brit. There were a lot of sorties going on and if you were good they used you hard. My favorite aircraft to work on was the F/A-18. Sweet maintenance computers and solid engineering. I ended up cross rating into every area of the aircraft and running a 224 day squad where we took the plane apart (mostly), inspected it, and put it back together. I got out in 1998 though.. long time ago so bragging rights have expired. Rog, thanks for the info... I got out of the USAF in 1993 not too long after my tour in ODS. Worked in the Space Shuttle program for 4 years and am now a US Army IT Contractor. Avatar72 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 The cannon sound from Wag's video does sound different and intense. It sounds like the entire air frame rattling from inside the pit, which is probably not far from the truth.
Flim Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 love the new guns sound!! That is what the hog is all about...
BiPod Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 love the new guns sound!! That is what the hog is all about... ...and defending democracy. It's about the guns sound and defending democracy.... ...But yeah, it's mostly about the guns! DCS:A10C Rocks!

To keep the Warthog from coming apart, I bet it has more safety wire than a double D pushup bra.. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

Scout Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Actually its not all that bad. The 16 has a lot more. But I'm not saying that the hog doesn't have a good amount of safety wire. It's just the the 16 has a bunch of shit they keep cramming in there. The A-10 is basically hollow in the center fuselage. Kinda, with the gun in the bay is full then you have the main fuel bladders, Lt hyd system after that, APU, ECS pack then the Rt hyd system....after that is's damn near empty....I had to pull the puzzle panels a few weeks ago and yeah with the ECS pack out had plenty of room....still a pain especially if no one has marked them when its time to put them back in.... v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
Eddie Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 It is, a few guys just got back from afghanistan an they said they were attempting to play over there.... Well, you guys must get much better internet access than us then. I couldn't even watch the many youtube vids out there, not that I'm jealous or anything. To make matters worse I was man down with flu on the day we arranged a visit down to the Hogs, so I missed out.

genbrien Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 heyyyy.... forget about Beta5.... it's soooooooooooo out. If you want to be in, wait for the 6th :music_whistling::megalol: Beta 5 will not be released. ... rather Beta 5 turned out to be a separate build for Steam evaluation and testing. The next beta build to be released to Open Beta will be Beta 6. This beta will be tested by our testing staff this weekend, and if all looks good, it will be made available next week. StrongHarm Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I use to hate pulling the puzzle panel in Alaska when it was like -10 to -20. They still call it the hellhole (F45)? I saw a guy fall out of the hellhole of a p3 once after trying to pull something off (may have been safety wire) with the angled end of a scribe. The scribe let loose and he drove the straight sharp end straight up his nose! Second most painful accident I ever saw.
