Boberro Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 True: once a week I leave my refuse out at the curb and they come pick it up, sometimes though someone happens by and scores some good stuff. :D Mind you, my dog always barks at them for stealing my trash. :D:D LOL ^ Maybe they take your rubbish to see and laugh of what you eat and use every day :D There is never one point of view :P About thread's price topic - It is neither bargain nor high price. Just average Western. One is sure - it is worth of it. If price is still too high for someone (it's personal matter only) you can wait for Russian, it will be cheaper (supposedly, but it usually was). 1 Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. shadowze Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I would suggest $30 for the current version and $60 for a version that does NOT require the master server constant connection BS 2
sobek Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 $60 for a version that does NOT require the master server constant connection BS Yeah, we've all heard you blow your trumpet, now relax. And spell out the full truth, not a selective part of it so it sounds more inflammatory.;) MP requires a master server connection, that is all there is to it. You make it sound as if single player did as well, which is not the case. 1 Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
EtherealN Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 What sobek said, but with red-bold-text backup. Shadowze, it is very easy to bring forth your concerns in a nice and constructive manner - most specifically one that does not require people to correct you although you have already been corrected. And you keep it in one place. Pyroflash Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 my computer is almost worth 60 times as much as the software that I buy to run on it(3DS Max not included in this statement). So $60 isn't really that bad. Plus I don't stop to think about how much it cost me all that much. More often than not, I rather think about what I would be doing if I hadn't bought A-10C. I probably would still be trying to play through ME2 for the sixth time, or playing Air Quake(LOFC2), or jumping off of cliffs and stabbing my eyes out in Black Ops. You see, DCS: A-10C, because gouging your own eyes out is much too painful. P.S. I am actually doing none of the above right now. The STS-133 mission has had me watching it constantly through NASA's live feed, and I am now sitting and waiting for the Discovery crew to do their morning EVA. 1 If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
Anastasiuss Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 The price is not too high. Above all in comparison to other software. I have paid the $60 with pleasure, because I know from "Black Shark" that it can be well invested money. darrenkarp Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 How about they offer a voucher code to get $20 - $30 off for a limited time period. I bet it would generate more sales for people sitting on the fence.
darrenkarp Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 DCS A-10C Voucher Code..Would you then buy? Hi all, Following on from my previous pricing post, if ED were to offer a time limited $20 - $30 discount voucher would that make people that are perhaps sitting on the fence purchase? Thanks DK
kingpinda Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I don't know... I don't sit on the fence. I jumped straight over it like it was a 5 inch high hurdle. Would there be many potential buyers even visiting this forum?
Mud Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 This is very personal of course, but when I fill up my car these days I pay around $65 and it lasts me a good two weeks (1k KM). I drive a Volvo diesel, mostly to work, and it doesn't have a GAU/8 to work my way through traffic jams. And even if it did, I reckon the recoil would probably just propel me right back where I came from. The $60 for DCS A-10C provides a whole lot more :) Joking aside, for what you get in return the price is really peanuts I think. I'm sure ED will iron out the remaining hickups in the near future. If you like combat sims, and have the pricey hardware to run them, then I really don't understand the facts that so many people make an issue out of the price for the item which actually supplies you with so much fun in the end. 1 Spoiler W10-x64 | B650E Gigabyte Aorus Master | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | Noctua NH-D15 G.Skill Trident ZS Neo DDR5-6000 64Gb | MSI RTX 3080ti Gaming X Asus Xonar AE | TM Hotas Warthog MFG Crosswind pedals | Valve Index
BoneDust Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I would say there's no need to discount A10 yet. $20-$30 off is a significant reduciton. These guys need to get paid and they need to make a profit or there will be no more sims like this, but more importantly the sim is worth what they are charging for it. I believe Wags stated that years ago sims were the darlings of the gaming industry, but once FPS games arrived sims took a back seat. Take a look at what products are available today. DCS is it for study sims. There's no commercial company making combat flight sims. Seriously, $59 for A10 is not a bad price. On top of that they gave us the beta to play with. It is competitive with other games on the market, and if you're quibling over $20 or $30 you're in the wrong hobby, or any hobby for that matter; its privilege not a right. I have nothing but praise for these guys; even my customer service experience with them was top notch. I respect your opinion, but I'm afraid I disagree with it. :) Alienware New Aurora R15 | Windows® 11 Home Premium | 64bit, 13thGen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9 13900KF(24-Core, 68MB| NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 4090, 24GB GDDR6X | 1 X 2TB SSD, 1X 1TB SSD | 64GB, 2x32GB, DDR5, 4800MHz | 1350W PSU, Alienware Cryo-tech (TM) Edition CPU Liquid Cooling power supply | Pimax Crystal VR
brewber19 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I know I shouldn't feed the troll but... Seriously, you're whining about discounts & coupons etc etc? How much of a tight ass are you? Anyone who produces software with this kind of fidelity, and it doesn't matter if its DCS, ARMA, Steel Beasts etc, deserve a realistic price for their product. $60 is nothing. $100 would be fine, given by the time I'd "finished" with it, it would equate to about 1c per hour of entertainment. Dude, you're just insulting and rude to a group of people who, albeit are in business, actually are passionate enough about a niche genre to continue that commitment in spite of ass-hats who want a sophisticated product for nothing. At your age (darrenkarp) you should be expected to appreciate the work that goes in to this kind of stuff, and be mature enough to accept paying accordingly. You're old enough to have learned by now that you get what pay for...and buy cheap, buy twice so...pay your $60 and be grateful and appreciative of the quality of this product (not perfect, but better than most). I'll stop feeding the troll now. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 487th Helicopter Attack Regiment, of the VVS504 Red Hammers

brewber19 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 You've fundamentally misunderstood the nature of the business & specifically this genre of product. Even in general terms... 1. You charge high for the first XYZ time period, to sweep up the "early adopters" and get their revenue (e.g. paid BETA). In marketing terms - INTRODUCTION 2. You acknowledge a small price reduction (5-10%) to attract interest and those people who have an aversion to "list price". GROWTH 3. Once the product sales start to slow, broad base marketing (like steam etc) to get casual/ad hoc sales etc, attempt to maintain MATURITY of product sales. 4. At the DECLINE stage a provider has the choice of further price reductions to eek out as much as they can from this product development, they can produce evolutionary enhancements to further profitise the original R&D, or move to another "product" to start the process again. Reducing unit cost will increase overall revenue, and therefore profit, but within 2 weeks of release is a little early. There are still plenty of early adopters to milk first, before necessitating a price reduction. Furthermore, if the patch and "pack" follows in a short enough time frame, can keep base product price as current etc. If you're so bothered about increasing revenue for ED then may I suggest... 1. Spend your time on other forums advocating how much you like DCS:WH...rather than waste your time on the ED forums on people who are already fans. 2. Buy many versions of the product, for your mates, as an incentive to get them started. You will therefore have contributed to EDs coffers. ack! I think you may have read me wrong. I'm not quibbling about the price, it is what it is, I'm simply making a statement which may increase their sales and therefore their profit.
