SimFreak Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I created a little guide for people that learn through pictures. Enjoy. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3171145.html#Post3171145 9

sofie_59 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) Make a track and upload it please! A guide from scratch! Start with the radio setup and go on to the end of the mission. If you do that you dont have to speak, Just take your time and do things slow so we see what you are doing If you dont know how to do it i just copy and paste EtherealN! :After flight, click "save track". Then go to the forum, in the reply box click "go advanced", then use the paperclip icon to upload. Call911 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Thanx, now this nooby pilot somwhart has an idea on mav employment 8)- Will try the bomb ones next but still early in my flight career here so 1 step at a time 8)-
CrashEd Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Coordinate input seems to be the flavour of the week ;) :D
Conure Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Thanks for the nice guide - Is there any use in using manual laser over auto? It's always done it automatically for me! Creelers Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I can't get the GBU 12s to hit where I want them to go. 38s work fine but the 12s don't at the very start of the mission :/

PlainSight Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) About GBU-12, you have to HOLD NWS button to constantly paint the target. That's when L will flash. If L doesn't flash, laser is just armed. You need to paint the target just in the last 10-8 seconds before impact, not the whole flight down. Edited March 4, 2011 by PlainSight [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
159th_Viper Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 About GBU-12, you have to HOLD NWS button to constantly paint the target.... Alternatively just set your weapons-profile to Auto-Lase with the desired time and the TGP will attend to it automatically. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? I love all the available options. Laser-guided are my weapon of choise. When i press maverick to TRACK, i'm never certain what will it lock onto. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
leafer Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Very nice, Sim. I bought this when it first came out and I still don't know how to lase or drop guided bombs. Your tutorials will help me for sure. However, practically every single tutorial out uses China Forward Long, DMS Up/Down, etc. Such terminology will scare away potential customer, and even I, who has been around forever, scratch head when I see them. So, it would be nice if you could be the first guy to add keyboard command for a person without HOTAS. Even some thing like, "China Hat Forward Long OR hold down V on your kb for you cheapskate" would help tremendously. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
mic1184 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 SimFreak, excellent tutorial there. Maybe you want to add to your LGB guide that the laser shouldn't be fired before Time to Impact timer goes below 10 seconds. Keeping your tutorial simple I wouldn't confuse the noob with profile editing to set auto-laser, although i think it's easier [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] MB: DFI Lanparty UT P35-T2R CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 @ 3,6 GHz @ 1,328V VGA: MSI GTX460 HAWK @ 850/1700/1000 MHz MFCD: Eizo S2231 22" S-PVA RAM: A-Data Vitesta 2 x 2048 MB @ 960 MHz FLT EQPM: Saitek X-52 Pro, TrackIR 5
Creelers Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Alternatively just set your weapons-profile to Auto-Lase with the desired time and the TGP will attend to it automatically. I did this like in the tutorial, but it still didn't hit anywhere near the desired target, but I will try again later and see if it is just an error on my part. Which it most likely is.
maxmax Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 (edited) There is another way to use bombs. A bit easier for me at least. Gbu12: go to profiles in dsms and choose gbu12 by clicking buttons corresponding with arrows at left side of the mfcd Then click view prof. Now you should see CCIP in the right side if the mfcd. Click the corresponding button, and it goes go CCRP. Click save in the top of the screen. Choose gbu12 from dsms. Go to tgp / a-g in mfcd. Find your target by slewing. They are usually at a waypoint,so you can slew the tgp there automatically by pressing china hat fwd long (default button V for 2 sec). Look for targets. When a target is pinpointed, press TMS up short once or twice and it cycles untlil it says POINT in the mfcd. Now your HUD should show two vertical lines if you have set it to CCRP by pressing master mode mode button. One of the lines will start counting down from 20 when they are aligned, i.e you are heading for your target. When it reaches 5, keep the weapons release button pressed until it reaches 0. And bombs away. It should hit its target. Gbu 38 works in the same way, except they are in ccrp mode by default, and the targeting reticuel are the two diamonds. You can release the bomb when your hud says "man release". Edited March 5, 2011 by maxmax typos
Creelers Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Finally got GBU-12 to work, for some reason it wouldn't save it in CCRP mode :/ I was definitely pressing save after changing to CCRP
Mugenjin Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I did this like in the tutorial, but it still didn't hit anywhere near the desired target, but I will try again later and see if it is just an error on my part. Which it most likely is. You need autolase on and put in the desired lasetime (in the bottom left). Lasetime = seconds before impact when the laser starts firing. Press e.g. 8 on CDU/UFC then the OSB next to 'LS time'.

Skoop Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 ^ You know I was having the auto lase profile problem as well. Its too tedious to have to mess with the profile every time in flight so I switched to manual lase at 10 seconds from impact. Hold down NWS button until impact at 10 seconds. When I started doing this, I never miss with GBU-12s. intel i5 3570k @ 4.5 Ghz + Corsair H100 in push-pull / Asus Maximus V Formula mobo / 16Gb Gskill Ripjaw Z ddr3 1600 / evga 690 GTX 4gb / 1 TB WD caviar Black 7200 rpm sata HDD + 80GB Corsair F80 SSD + 2x Corsair 60Gb Force3 SSD / TM Warthog HOTAS-G940 Peddals / Corsair 1200 AX gold PSU / Windows 7 64 bit OS / 27" Qnix 2710 @ 2560 x 1440 120hz PLS Monitor & 23" acer touch screen with Helios/

It's always done it automatically for me! In beta it used to auto lase. Not in release. About GBU-12, you have to HOLD NWS button to constantly paint the target. That's when L will flash. If L doesn't flash, laser is just armed. You need to paint the target just in the last 10-8 seconds before impact, not the whole flight down. That's why I set latch-on. This way you don't have to hold NWS. Very nice, Sim. Good point. I'll add regular key strokes. SimFreak, excellent tutorial there. Maybe you want to add to your LGB guide that the laser shouldn't be fired before Time to Impact timer goes below 10 seconds. Keeping your tutorial simple I wouldn't confuse the noob with profile editing to set auto-laser, although i think it's easier Yeah. I don't want to go into DSMS. That thing is 'teh devil'. About 10 seconds TT, I'll add that. Usually being around 10-15K is better. Although I don't know when laser paint becomes too large and increase CEP. I did this like in the tutorial, but it still didn't hit anywhere near the desired target, but I will try again later and see if it is just an error on my part. Which it most likely is. You have to include more info. Did you put circle though a hole? Where you at least 5K AGL? There is another way to use bombs. A bit easier for me at least. Finally got GBU-12 to work, for some reason it wouldn't save it in CCRP mode :/ I was definitely pressing save after changing to CCRP Give me more info or a trk and we will help..
Creelers Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 The track didn't save properly :/ But, I made sure I was over 5000 on the HUD and it worked. The problem with setting to CCRP is: When I go into profile main, go into the GBU 12 from there: Set mode to CCRP, go advanced and set lase time 6 and auto lase on. I saved it then proceeded back to the main weapon page in DSMS. I then selected the GBU 12s and went into to the profile from there directly by pressing prof, none of the changes I made earlier saved at all.
