TOMCATZ Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Hi, well I tryed to replace the Mirage2000 with about my Rafale model. In FC2.0 and BS it works well but in DCS it does not work anymore. I exported all of my models as "LOM-File" but now ED use the "EDM"-format for models. I tryed to fix it in the "Mirage2000-5.lua". There I made following entry: " Shape = "m2000.LOM", " but it doesn`t work. Them I tryed to delete all m2000.edm files but them the programm shows me an "Error" and doesn`t start the programm. Now I`m very worries of course it looks like I loose the chance to insert some of my own models into the DCS world. It could a sudden death for all model projects as well .... Is there a way to bring my Rafale model into DCS? My best wishes, TOM Born to fly but forced to work.

rattler Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 This is a slight set back for modders, as now they have to get 3dsmax8 when all along 7 was the one everyone had to use. Feel your pain Tom, as with others that don't have an 8 version. I have no idea if you could do an .edm or whatever with 7 but now the cost of doing mods is rising. Sounds like Bill Gates mania.:huh:

Only a guess though. My guess would be for 2010 or 2011 plugin support at some point. luckybob9 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Until then, give me more rep :D or try these steps that I will try to remember from memory. Do everything normally. When all materials are assigned, press "M" to open up the materials. Then click on the material that you have assigned. One of the plugins on the right side, click the "Make Cool" button. A new set of properties should appear in the material menu now. Use the pulldown selection to select either "default" or "concrete". (I cant remember which one is there, I think it is default now". Under the Maps section, assign the values that you want. The useable options are "Specular Level", Diffuse Color, and Bump. Be sure to change every other value to 0. TOMCATZ Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 I could be nice if ED will give PlugIns for using EDM-formats for -3ds Max2011 -3ds Max8 -3ds Max7 or an converter to bring Lom- models into the new DCS-engine. Max 2008 only isn`t enough of course it`s four years old! Well, Max8 is much older but most community modelers still use it. Or somebody will explain how LOM-models still useable in DCS-A10 engine. Otherwise it should be a sudden death for mostern LOMAC-modelers. My best wishes, TOM Born to fly but forced to work.
