I'll never buy that. Thats how the MME are making money. And the fact that the story was reported and written directly by a reporter who does not have any tangible evidence for her story than just an interview "from a local who was shot by Americans". (Lindsey Hilsum? just look at what she's doing to get some more bonus in her pocket). If the press does not show tangible facts then is a bunch of camp fire/hollywood stories intended to rise up their spectacularity.

Channel 4 is a very reputable outfit in the UK. If they said it happened, it probably happened. I have no reason to not believe it.

All those people on the aircraft are putting themselves on a potential dangerous situation. Any composites in the crash site could release particle that can affect the skin or the lungs. There could be UXO (bomb, missiles, bullets) plus other HAZMAT.

Libya has no such aircraft. Their most modern strike aircraft is probably the Su-24 Fencer while their most modern fighter is the Mig-23 and Mirage F1.

 

The highest threat to western aircraft are Libya SAMS since their fighters are quite old to pose an actual threat. I don't think that any modern sea vessel is in danger in the Libyan sea.

 

Given the aircraft and SAMs available to the Libyans, they can't be trained well enough to react to any modern aircraft attack. If you bear in mind that Libyans hadn't participated in any war lately and had no tensions with neighboring countries I doubt that they are so well trained.

 

I doubt that Libyan navy will do the mistake to leave its naval bases. Libyan forces best chance is to enter urban areas(major cities) were aerial strikes are difficult to conduct and where you would need to deploy well trained foot soldiers to drive them off.

If by one sided you mean showing only one side, I agree, they show only one side, thats not very strange since they are free to move and talk to whoever they want in the rebel areas, but cant move freely and talk to whoever they want in the Gaddafi controlled areas. The Gaddafi regime decides where you can go and who you can talk to, and follows you every second. So they are a bit limited in that way. Are they still biased? Probably yes. I believe them more than I believe the Gaddafi side though.

 

And they werent completely one sided, they did include an interview with a Gaddafi spokesperson, check the second video.

Second to that all of the airworthy Libyan MiG-25 foxbats are of RBK and RU type stationed with No.1025 Squadron at Jufra-Hun and Sabha airbases and No.1055 Squadron at Ghardabiya dual function airfield.

 

Libya also had MiG-25PD and MiG-25PU but these airframes now bring used as CANN. IIRC since 1994.
