CONFIRMED: Next aircraft will be a fixed wing US FIGHTER!

I wouldn't mind F/A-18C for some carrier action.

Super Bug is less likely as it's a newer aircraft with most secrets still kept secret.

However, having a US aircrat carrier with F/A-18 to fly from somewhere in Black Sea theatre is something you won't see IRL. Like fish in the bathtub! So I hope for a new addon theatre as well. Black Sea, Nevada...

DCS:F/A-18C + Kamchatka Krai?!

I'm not sure if a carrier could get through that pass with the bridges.

The first bridge is a suspension bridge that has 210ft of clearance at sea level. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosphorus_Bridge

The second bridge is also a suspension bridge that has 209ft of clearance at sea level. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatih_Sultan_Mehmet_Bridge

They do know. There is no point in not admitting that you don`t know something. So far they haven`t confirmed that they know something nor have they denied that they know something, which makes me believe they DO know everything. :) Yeah, I know it`s another assumption but an argumentative one :)

many of the moderators and beta testers often say they dont know everything and they only do on need to know basis, they are NOT developer staff. This means while the next DCS module is already under early stages of development there isnt anything to moderate or test on, then there is no need to tell them yet.

Regretfully (and I hope mods are not offended by this) there has were leaks in the past regarding plans for FC2 and that confirms the need for this policy. Correct me if im wrong.

In all honesty M8, we do not.

Will not even attempt to convince you - all I can do is ask that you trust me when I tell you that the statement above is the honest truth :)

So its also a bomber?

I think people are getting a little to caught up on the fighter statement. In normal conversational language (the setting of an interview), I feel fighter is taken more simply to mean a tactical/high performance aircraft. Where as bomber is taken to mean something more on the order of a B-52. I think fighter in this context could be taken to mean any F-x, F/A-x or maybe even A-x (not too many of those left though and we already have one of them).

Trying to find the average height of Nimitz class.. It seems to be close to 200 feet with a quick search... Typical draft is 37 to 40 feet.... Wonder what the soundings of this area look like..

OK looks like guidelines for port facilities call for a "lightly loaded" Height of 215 feet.. and that figure is from 13 years ago...

ruh roh.... hope those are drawbridges..

Think of tidal periods.

You do remember Kuz (ex-Tbilisi) during Black sea trials?

Her height is 237.2 ft and bridges were there in 1991 when she left Black Sea fleet to join Northern fleet! What I was pointing at is small area of Black Sea, carrier being within the reach of every jet with ASM.

I was approached from TM as an old TM Cougar user when they opted for a new stick. They made a poll (or a survey) asking what would we like next. I asked for a twin engined throttle and pointed to one of a F/A-18C style.

OK they've made TM Warthog and I'm grateful 'cause it also serves us good with fighter jets. However, I'm a big Hornet fan and hope for a good F/A-18C simulator. VRS kinda dissapointed cause of inability of any combat.

Just my humble opinion or a wish!

So hoist the sails!

F-15 and f-18 sticks pose a problem. They have less buttons and switches and a high end product will always offer more. We will probably see a force sensing replica of another F-16 HOTAS,or F-22/F-35 replicas.

I doubt we will ever see french or russian HOTAS replicas (being TM a french company).

Alright. I believe you. That`s even worse, if the testers don`t know yet then we are pretty far from announcement :(

I dont think the MOD's knowing it is an accurate indicator its going to be annouced soon, simply because you also never know when exactly they are told either. :D

I wish it was the AV-8B Harrier II (jumpjet) even if it's out of service since 1 or 2 months I think.

Blech. Typical mission payload is 1-2 bombs. It's subsonic, it can't turn, it can't really climb, either. No serious A2A capabilicy. The + can throw AMRAAMs around, but it's a self-defense thing, not a huge challenge for a real air superiority fighter.
