So as I think that the next DCS Module will be the multirole F/A 18C, will there be a replica HOTAS from Thrustmaster with that design? Or should I just get the latest Warthog stick?

Before making an new stick without sence (2 throttle for F/A-18 are already integrated in the Wathog-Stick), they should make an nice F-16 ICP  Thats where al lot of flight sim player all around the world are waiting for...

How long after the Cougar the Warthog emerged? 10 years or was it more? Doubtful they will bring out something new in time for the next DCS module.

They should use the moddable nature of the stick and just bring out different sticks more often though, not full hotas solutions.

With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

Even if they brought out a new stick altogether, $500 every two years is a cheap hobby.

I'd buy whatever new HOTAS they (or CH) bring out so long as it's the same quality as the WH.

You call $500 for a set of HOTAS every 2 years cheap?

Thats my way. You live to have fun and spend money, what are you gonna do when you are 90 years old and have millions of dollars? Or you suddenly die after saving all this money? Give it to your kids?

I think that everyone who is interested in Flight Simulations etc... has a high enough intellect to get a well paid job.

Can't wait till the Warthog arrives. Today or tomorrow... This is gonna be a long night.

BUMP!

Has anyone heard anything about a new high-end HOTAS? Could an F/A-18 stick of Warthog quality be in the works?

Have you seen this thread?

Not that it currently offers an immediate solution, it does prove to be an interesting thread however.

I doubt Thrustmaster will make one for the 18 as Rogue stated, due to the relatively recent release of the warthog. I think they, or someone, can still capitalize on the modularity of it the system and produce some interesting things.

I did see that, thanks MacTheGoon. In fact, that thread sent me on a tangent into wondering what Thrustmaster themselves might be working on. I think the Cougar was released in 2002, the Warthog in 2010.. so maybe it's a little soon for a replacement, but given some of the big releases this year, especially the Hornet (and F-14), it seems like a good time for Thrustmaster to capitalize on the hype around these modules.

I agree that it could be a good time to develop a new HOTAS, however consider this -

Even though, as Wynn stated $500 every few years is a relatively cheap hobby if you take into considerations the cost of others i.e. golf, skiing, camping, model building etc etc there are people out there, and I'd be willing to bet the majority of them, probably aren't willing to fork that over every two years.

So, what would be more cost efficient to produce and sell at a lower price point? Modular HOTAS equipment. I would venture a guess and say that we would see Thrustmaster maybe produce modular throttles and sticks to replace those that come on the A-10 system. Say they could see these for perhaps $199-$299. They would probably make more money in the long run as that is a much easier sell to those who aren't as hardcore as some of the simpitters and such. Not to mention, it is infinitely easier for me to explain to my wife why I spent $199 vice $500!!!!

If TM really had a strong interest in flight sims, then they would be selling flight sim pedals along with all of their racing hardware.

I would be all over that, would love to see them do something in this area.

I have never quite understood why they did not venture into a new pedal design, heck I think the TARGET software was even set up to include pedals...

I didn't really expect a response from Thrustmaster when I bluntly asked them about their future products.. but at least I got a response. Make from it what you will.
