I tried the volume controll on the ILS panel but no change.:helpsmilie: Towards the aft end of the left side panel you have a panel with volume knobs for the various radios, including ILS and TACAN ident. zamboni Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Was going to ask the same thing.... Should the volume on the ILS panel change the volume for the beeper/beacons or is this a bug? I havent tried the button on the left side panel (only did one mission so far :). Request.....can change the ILS button to get a right/left mouse click and drag to change the .XX frequency and have the mouse wheel scroll the volume? It takes a heck of a lot of mouse scrolling to get to the right ILS frequency the way it is now.
636_Castle Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 The volume knob isn't working whatsoever it seems. QFE is still broken too. Urggh :/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] How To Fix Your X-52's Rudder!
Bahger Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Can someone refer to the knob referencec by Effte by the green tooltip text that shows up when you mouse over it? I'm having trouble finding it. The ILS tone is a great addition, especially beacon tone, but I'm about to record a track for an ILS tutorial and don't want the constant beeping. Thanks!
636_Castle Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Bahger there's an intercom control panel on the left console located behind the emergency flight control panel. One of them is labeled ILS. Another way you should be able to lower the volume is by right/left clicking the right knob labeled "VOL" on the ILS panel itself. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] How To Fix Your X-52's Rudder!
Bahger Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Thanks Castle. I don't think the ILS volume knob on the right works. Luckily it works to change the frequency to the right of the decimal point but no amount of right or left clicking affected the tone volume when I tried. Edit: Cannot lower ILS tone volume on either the right panel or the left. Has anyone had any luck with this? Edited April 6, 2011 by Bahger
PlainSight Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Edit: Cannot lower ILS tone volume on either the right panel or the left. Has anyone had any luck with this? Nope, it beeps an long as it has the power [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
nemises Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I don't believe it has a (functioning) volume control, but you should be able to click on the Intercom ILS volume knob to disable it...not had a chance to test it myself on 1107 , but it has worked that way in other builds.
Rainmaker Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 QFE is still broken too. Urggh :/ Baby steps...I noticed this too. I got a QFE of 38.?? before takeoff today. :) Hey, atleast it's all 4 digits now ;)
Frostiken Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) This wouldn't be a huge deal but for the fact that the ILS is omni-directional, when in fact you only get ILS data in a very narrow cone and only then from the proper end of the runway. On the ramp, or anywhere except on approach, you shouldn't hear any tones at all. Also I've not seen any evidence of marker beacons working. Edited April 6, 2011 by Frostiken [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
effte Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 35 degrees either side of the final approach course, so not all that narrow. Lots of the airport will be covered. Outside of that you tend to get static rather than an ident. You'll also tend to hear it when on the approach to the opposite runway, as most localizer facilites have a backcourse beam, with varying strength depending on the type of localizer. ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
Frostiken Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Hmm? The other runway should have a totally different frequency specifically to avoid sidelobe interference and to avoid you from spiraling into the dirt. Unless you're talking about something else... either way, you wouldn't hear the codes on the ramps. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
effte Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 All the commonly found localizers have a back course lobe, extending in the opposite direction from the main lobe. In the US, this lobe is even used to fly back course approaches. As for hearing the ident on the ramps, you are pretty darn close to the antenna so I wouldn't be surprised to hear the ident even when outside of the 70 degree coverage sector. I'll check as soon as I remember. ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.

Can you define 'commonly found' in the context of military bases? The antennas which serve one runway have a back lobe radiating in the opposite direction. There are antenna designs out there which suppress that back lobe almost entirely, but they are by and large the exception. You are thinking published procedures, but I'm talking antenna design and behaviour/performance. ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
Joker_ Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 no volume, as already discussed, just off and on I can't for the life of me turn it off and on or adjust the volume despite having read all the relevant threads. Anyone else actually successfully turned it off or turned it down? Thanks. -- Joker
nemises Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) dang...hmm, I have definitely tested it, but I'm not sure what build sorry. Let me check now in 1107 *edit* agreed, just had a check in 1107 and the intercom ILS switch doesn't stop the ILS signal playing over the intercom. I'll have a quick look in the bug tracking database to confirm its still to be fixed Edited April 6, 2011 by nemises
ScEBlack1 Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I get no sound at all from the ILS alligement, same as last patch, do you need to have a certain sound turned up in your sound controls such as world or cockpit etc?

Anyone else actually successfully turned it off or turned it down? Thanks. -- Joker This is to confirm that I cannot turn it off, from the intercom panel or anywhere else. This sabotages my plans to release an ILS tutorial video so it would be good to know if it's on a bug-list, in which case I might wait until the next patch.
REL Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 no volume, as already discussed, just off and on Off and On doesn't work in 1.1.0.7
Scratchy Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 I've done some testing on a mission I built. The ILS identifier will sound if the ILS receiver is turned on and is tuned into a working ILS frequency within a reasonable range. [bTW, it shouldn't matter if you're on or near the localizer to get the identifier. This isn't directional (at least not in the US.)] The ILS knob on the audio panel on the left has no effect on the ILS identifier tone; volume nor on/off. It does, however, effect the marker beacon audible tones; volume and on/off. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Intel i7-8700K @4.9Ghz | 32Gb memory DDR4 | Evga GTX 1080ti | Saitek Eclipse keyboard | Logitech Mx518 | CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle/Pedales | TIr5 | Win10 x64 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
