BoneDust Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I had my left engine catch fire on take off last night; could it have been a bird strike? There was no indication on the dials of any over temps etc. Alienware New Aurora R15 | Windows® 11 Home Premium | 64bit, 13thGen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9 13900KF(24-Core, 68MB| NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 4090, 24GB GDDR6X | 1 X 2TB SSD, 1X 1TB SSD | 64GB, 2x32GB, DDR5, 4800MHz | 1350W PSU, Alienware Cryo-tech (TM) Edition CPU Liquid Cooling power supply | Pimax Crystal VR
rob10 Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I had my left MFCD fry in the middle of one of the training missions. Annoying to have to start it over again, but AWESOME that there are this kind of failure simulated. One thing that I never did check out - there was a red boxed error message on the right MFCD and I didn't see any obvious way to get rid of it if I was on a mission and wanted to continue with just the one MFCD.
doright Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Do you have birds cranked up to 111? I think you hit an invisible pterodactyl.
104th_Crunch Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Love how the right wing pops up because of the physics when the right gear rips off. Looks like you drove over a 2 foot wall lol.
RichardG Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 time delay 23mm shell that just happened to be timed to explode on landing Huh? Is this a real life thing? Is it modeled in the game? If it is, how would a shell with a barometric sensitive fuse (only technical way I can think of to do this in reality) know what the altitude of your home airfield is, so as to explode on landing? Th person setting the fuse would have to know your airfield altitude. Weird, and unlikely. Maybe you were joking? :) I've had this problem with my gear. One airfield has a big (invisible) pothole in the taxiway, it blows a tire every time at the same spot in the taxiway. Had this happen on takeoff once too. Ripped the nose gear off just before rotating.
S77th-konkussion Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) It seems like there's something at Nalchik. Get more tire explosions there than anywhere- about 2/3 way down on takeoff run.. I admit that it could be an illusion of numbers. Nalchik aerodrome has been used extensively in popular server missions like "Cherkessk".. who knows.. But on the other hand- this "Separatist" mission is being ran a LOT recently in MP out of Kopitnari-- have not seen a lot of this.. It jumped out on the runway when he was early in the flare, went under the propeller, between the nose and main gear and hit the empennage, missing the stab. About the only place it could hit without doing damage! He went around and then tried each main in turn, hoping he'd still have a nose gear when lowering the nose after landing. Then the interesting part came. Here, you are legally required to report hitting a deer to the police. After they got to the part where they asked about his vehicle, they told him to stop wasting their time calling when drunk and hung up on him. :megalol: ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.

Tracer2k Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 even tho it was very nice landing and all, the runway seemed to be veeery bouncy, atleast in the video, maybe it's a bug that the ground/grass is actually over the tarmac..? as if you were landing on the grass.
