hassata
An ED appreciation thread. At the risk of taking up forum space and coming off as a kiss *ss, I want to thank ED for one hell of good time. Every day there is something that makes me go f*ck me this is amazing. In the past, after I've spent all my time tinkering and optimizing and tweaking, I'd lapse into indifference (this with IL-2, F4, FSX, and the rest). Or there would be a show-stopper that would make me put the thing away permanently, such as dismal FPS, stuttering, boring, long missions, scripted landings (I'm looking at you LOMAC), or just too many damn bugs. Not so here. After I'v gotten things humming, I'm having a blast going through training and firing off a quick mission. And I can't wait to get into MP. Also, the prompt patching process and communication in general has been great. And to think that things will only get better with future system upgrades is icing. For those having technical issues, hang in there. I hope and trust ED will sort them out soon. So many thanks you crazy Russians. P.S. Don't mind me, I've taken some pain medication for the old migraine. Edited April 20, 2011 by hassata [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Scratchy
Yes, yes and more yes. (except the pain meds) This is the most kick a$$ sim ever. I'm constantly amazed at the fidelity. Thanks ED and thanks to the beta testers, who can claim some credit too; believing in the product enough to pay way before release and testing like mad. I've seen unfinished garbage (anyone else buy Dungeon Lords?) through to this apex of software. I like the apex end of things much more. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Intel i7-8700K @4.9Ghz | 32Gb memory DDR4 | Evga GTX 1080ti | Saitek Eclipse keyboard | Logitech Mx518 | CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle/Pedales | TIr5 | Win10 x64 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
latearrival
What has most impressed me most is that ED have not only given us an amazing sim that is worth far more than the asking price, but that they are continuing to deliver exciting new stuff in the patches (e.g. new sound engine, self-shadowing cockpit) Thank you ED! Relayer
I think DCS is very much an example of how to do it right, when it comes to flight simulators. I think the 'Open Beta' scheme was a great example of working with the community, where people knew exactly what they were buying in to - a beta version. Compare and contrast that with the state that IL2 Cliffs of Dover was released in, and the differences in attitude towards customers are huge. That ethos of working with the community is evident here, and I congratulate ED for creating this wonderful environment for the sim. All of this before I even say a word of comment on the actual sim itself. I don't really feel the need to comment on the sim - everything I would say has frankly already been said - absolutely incredible. My genuine and heartfelt thanks to ED for creating this wonderful piece of work.
bluepilot76
I agree wholeheartedly. I remember day dreaming about a sim like this when I was little, with a 3d cockpit and moving map display, and outside scenery that looked like the real world. I can guarantee that I will buy every aircraft in the series, and every other theater of operations that is realeased, as long as the quality and realism continues as it is. I have shown youtube clips of this sim to several people at work, who have never been interested in flying or simulation before. They all went away asking, where they could get it, would they be able to fly it, would there computers be able to run it. So although the market may seem small Im sure there is great potential, I think with the realism as it is we are getting into the realms of virtual reality now. I wonder if all the people who like to drive tanks and ships and submarines etc would like in on the action. I would love to go tank busting against them.... Cowboy10uk
I Wholehearted agree with all of the Above. I have been flying sims for longer than I care to remember and the last one to get me hooked like this was Falcon. I thought things couldnt get any better than that, I never thought I would see a sim as in depth as BS and A10. While I freely admit I couldnt get on with Lomac despite owning them all, I have to say that Ed is one of the best sim designers out there. I just wish other companies would look at you and see how it should be done, I know there were complaints from some who didnt understand they were pre purchasing the sim and getting the Beta access for free, However I have never had a better experience in waiting for full release as I did in your Beta program. I just hope you decide to continue that format for any other modules you have planned, I for one will be supporting you. Im sure that this sim will shoot Falcon down in flames for the number of yrs it will be in service, I was flying my beloved Falcon for over 10 yrs, I cant wait to do the same with my Hog. RodBorza
I agree with all and add this: never ever had seen a game producer to directly look at the forums and directly answer customers the way Matt Wagner is doing. This is the part that impresses me the most. I happen to own the vast majority of my games from Ubisoft. And although they have forums and support, I had never seen this kind of commitment and attention to customer request. On the other hand, from ED you know they are listening. Take a look at Matt's videos on You Tube as an example. I can guarantee that I will buy every aircraft in the series, and every other theater of operations that is realeased, as long as the quality and realism continues as it is. Can't agree more! As long as they keep up the good work, I will buy it just to keep them going. This is an amazing sim! Speed
Yes! Thank you very much ED team! While I (and others) do a bit of complaining and bitching now and then about bugs and certain features, keep in mind that folks whine and bitch because they love this sim. We just want to make it better! If we didn't care for it, we wouldn't be complaining about stuff, now would we? Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. StrongHarm
I've always had good performance and little frustration, but I've been a sysadmin for 18years. I just got a SSD drive and now I'm double happy. Keeping up with the system maintenance and upgrades sure helps. You're right! Having Matt Wagner as Producer is a huge plus. He's enthusiastic about the sim and the community and really cares. Check the credits.. he did the JTAC voice himself.. and I'd bet it wasn't to save a buck. It's nice to see good feedback. Send Wags a PM and say thanks if you get a moment. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

NoJoe
Yes yes yes! Eagle Dynamics, you guys are legendary! I really appreciate all the effort and time spent both on the sim and here on the forums. It's great to see ED team members asking and answering questions, and to see all the work that goes in to perfecting the sim itself. Your love of flight simulation is very apparent! :joystick: --NoJoe
redtail
INDEED! I've never been more impressed with a sim as I am with DCS A-10C. I've been a flightsim junkie ever since I got a Commodore-64 when I was around 15, so I've had just about every one over the years but this is the KING of them all. Flightsims are what made me go on to take real flight lessons and get my private pilot certificate back in 1998. This one is the closest feeling to actual flying I've had on a PC. Thank you so much ED for keeping this genre alive. Thank you Matt, your videos are really helpful in getting a grip on what this thing can do. You are like my flight instructor :) I'm not doing much actual flying these days due to the cost and I'm not sure if I can ever force myself to get back into FSX or X-plane now that I have the hog! I can only imagine what DCS F-16 will be like :) .....can't wait. ~Redtail~ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
