WildBillKelsoe Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Hello, I'm seriously considering purchasing a G-940 Flight System by Logitech and I want your opinions fellas. How does it compare to the X52, the Pro, the Thrustmaster HOTAS (old and warthog)... :helpsmilie: some videos about it And guys I also gonna buy a 42 inch LCD screen but make it our lickle secret ha? AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
Cibit Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 It looks like a plastic joystick to me mate:music_whistling: Only one stick to consider if your spending G940 money. TMWH. IMHO:) ;) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Scarecrow Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Yeah Mark makes the G940 look like the next best thing in flight simming, but it's all hype I'm afraid. DCS sims don't work well as the response curve doesn't follow the trimmed position, and can't because Logitech are a useless development partner. IL2 COD just had FFB effects thrown in last week but they aren't great and they aren't using the Logitech/Immersion co API so the effects are basically what was in IL2 1946 only not as good yet. The G940 also suffers from the Reversal Bug which makes small adjustment of throttle, trims and peddles impossible so it's no use for tanking or formation flying. I still have the G940 and hope to use the stick only in IL2 COD if they improve the FFB effects. The FFB effects in ROF are quite good I hear. http://forums.logitech.com/t5/PC-Gaming/Sell-me-on-the-Logitech-G940/td-p/581764 Do not buy a G940 they are poop! Get a CH setup they are good! Or a Warthog they are awsome!

ZQuickSilverZ Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 (edited) Im going to give you the low down friend. First off the G940 has alot of slop in the middle. You can't get rid of it. Second in DCS Blackshark if you retrim it will hold the new physical center, however, you basically have to put electrical tape over the sensor eye because the stick is not balanced well and will not keep its position without motor assistance (in other words if you move your hand its just going to flop over sending your helo out of control). With tape over it it will hold but sometimes kicks like its bouncing. The motors are noisey. The LED's are not user friendly and are not supported by anything I know of. To use them you better be able to do scripting. I tried to use it in FSX and can not get the throttle to calibrate. It's hard to tell if the rotaries are centered. Despite all the complaints it seems to be MADE well (I beleive the FFB problems and slop are software related) The stick is very customizable and seems pretty solid and durable. Alot of people have had problems with the R2 rotary jumping. I have to I am afraid. I would say my satisfaction of the stick is about 7 out of 10. It could be 10 out of 10 if they would fix the software problems. Ok, lets cut to the chase. This stick in my opinion is NOT so good for DCS Blackshark (compared to a MS FFB 2 wich is PERFECT FFB wise but does not have enouph buttons). It works alot better for fixed wing however. Unfortuneatly if you want FFB there are not alot of choices. Would I recommend buying this stick......... Yes but only if your not intrested in FSX or Blackshark and can tolerate its "bugs". S77th-konkussion Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Don't buy that thing bro. That kind of coin gets you a Warthog. Compare the two? um... OK.... CH should also be on your list. Top quality. Top software. Top support. Warthog is most ideal for DCS A10- CH is one of the best options for all flight sims.. Under $300 for all 3 pieces. Pilotasso Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I had it and its a flimsy HOTAS. After 3 months it started to give me problems. Its software is very crummy. My 12 year old MS Sidwinder had better software. Youd be better off with a X52 PRO if you cant afford a X65F or a TM Warthog. .
Phantom88 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Go for "The HAWG" It's AMAZING!!! and worth the $$. I had The X-52 for yrs and it seemed fine.......till I got The TM WH and found out what quality feels like :) The X-52 fees like a cheap toy now. Patrick

WildBillKelsoe Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 guys I just need to point out that what's locally available is the G940. The warthog isnt here, and to get here from say US/Canada, will require a s#hitload of expenses for customs and sales tax. A shop here sells it, and with additional expenses, the Warthog will bypass that. I guess I'll wait for the Hog to become locally available... Unless, a friend is coming from the states packing light under 30 kilos... there is nothing I could do.. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Gadroc Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I have an X-52, G-940, MSFFFB2 and Warthog. I'll echo what others have said, if your budget allows skip the G-940. It's OK at best. Logitech has yet to release a fully functioning software nor give any kind of fix to the massive force feedback center slop aside from blame game developers. Sucks that it's your only option locally, but unless you get it really cheap it's just not worth it.

ZQuickSilverZ Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Gadroc would you agree that MSFFB2 is just about the best FFB stick money can buy? Honestly to me the MSFFB2 was perfect. It just did not have enouph buttons. Just curious about your opinion. Also Helios is so awsome. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. Phantom88 Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I was doing a search for a diagram for the TM WH and came across this store in Canada that supplies the TM WH Hotas. http://www.extremegamingdevices.com/jsp/products/thrustmaster_hotas_warthog/page.jsp Patrick
S77th-konkussion Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 He is in Egypt. I guess Saitek is not available, Noc? Not given any better options- I'd rather see you with Saitek than the logitech... But if you gotta- it's better than no hotas at all.. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]

It just did not have enouph buttons. Just curious about your opinion. Also Helios is so awsome. It is the best FFB Stick I've tried, that being said it leaves ALOT to be desired in terms of ergonomics, buttons and feel. I've modded mine with a shaft extension and put a B8 grip on it and removed the twist and it was much better.
WildBillKelsoe Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 no saitek is available but with 30 bucks, and it's a mere alien looking stick, looks like independence day crashed ship on the base... Really reluctant.. And I don't want saitek.. I got a DOA X52 (non pro) and got a partial refund from amazon. I have a friend who will try it in the states and keep it there till I come or a friend arrives and hands it to him... I guess I'll shank saitek by hooking up with CH products. They are the best from what I've heard.. this is a guy plaining from a third time X-52... I cant blame him.. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. metalnwood Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I bought the 940 with the intention to use it in BS for trimming and hope that I could convince myself it would be good for a10. If I didn't subsequently buy the WH I would say it is OK but the trimming in BS didn't really work because as others say it still moved around a little bit. I preferred to use my CH stick. Once I got the WH it was obvious that these things are night and day, no comparison IMHO. I really wanted the 940 to bve good because of the $$ difference but it was worth it to me to get the WH.
Gadroc Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Are you talking about the force feedback software or about the profiler software? For G940 it's all of the above. I think it's been over a year since they promised new software was in the works.
MustangSally Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I really wanted the G940 to be a great unit, but after 5mths fighting with borked FF when the firmware was updated to 1.42, the reversal bug and next to nil support, I gave up. I sold it and purchased the TM Warthog. Logitech tried but failed imho. ZQuickSilverZ Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Logitech chose to fail. Gadroc I will admit MSFFB2 had great FFB software. But thier profiler software sucks (as in compared to today, in thier defense people expected a lot less out of thier joysticks in those days). I find the Logitech profiler software to be really good actually. Honestly though I wish MS would make a MSFFB3 with a button layout like the TMWH or X65F. I would buy that sucker in a second.
