Psit Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Hey guys, i did a quick search but i didnt find any info. Is there a way we can have a list of all bomb types and whats the optimal way of using them concerning ccip and ccrp targeting. Sinky Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 The GBU-12 is a Laser Guided Bomb, it can be deployed from CCIP I think but it's usually deployed from CCRP above 10K feet. If your not lasing the target you will not hit it. There are multiple ways to employ different bombs which ultimately depend on the tactical situation. Psit Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 Thanks Sinky, i am wondering, when you go to the missions and you try the first east georgia mission, are you supposed to go to base to rearm? Because im getting out of ammo / missiles. Also, how am i supposed to bomb the god damn vehicle column when they got 2 aa/sam with the stupid gbu-12 and 38 bombs. I think the weapons loadout in that mission could be better?
Zenra Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 As Sinky said the guided bombs are usually best employed using CCRP - this applies to the inertial / GPS JDAM types as well as the laser guided bombs. CCRP is also useful for cluster bombs so long as you have a good mark on your target area, such as an aim point you set up through your TGP. CCIP works better in diving attacks when you want to keep your target area in your line of sight. Works well for dumb bombs like Mk-82s and such. CCIP also works well for firing rockets. It all depends on the tactical situation. There are exceptions, but in general you will use CCRP from high altitude to deploy guided munitions where MANPADS, AAA and other ground fire cannot reach you. If the tactical situation allows, or when circumstances require you to get up close and personal, then CCIP may be the way to go. I think the weapons loadout in that mission could be better? I haven't touched the campaign since the beta but it sounds like you could use a maverick or two. You can counter a Zeus easily with the gun providing you practice, as long as I fire and break off before I get to within 1nm then he can't touch me. Adding on to Zenra's post, when using dumb bombs such as the MK82, MK84, CBU-87 and the CBU-97 you will receive the most accurate delivery using CCIP but conditions don't always permit. You may encounter IR guided threats preventing you from going below 10K. Take out threats with Mavs then the gun. You can use both 38's and 12's for the static tanks and bridge:) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Psit Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 So, we have: 4 mavs 2 x gbu 12 2x gbu 38 some rockets for infantry and the gun I guess my wingman has the same loadout And we must kill: 6 or 7 AA's 9 tanks and the small targets and bridge which u can kill with the gun This leads to an about 1:1 ratio for the munitions. How can you not miss 1 time? I think its v hard to do withour rearming. edit: i understand u can kill tanks with the GAU, but still i think you dont have enough weapons :)
Cibit Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 The thing is the AAA and sams are not targets. To be honest these quick missions are how I learned most of my weapons delivery techniques. It does not matter if you killed every living thing on the map, but how successfully you prosecuted your attack. The only time I miss with a weapons system now is pilot error;) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

I like to keep any mavericks I have for SAM threats. If I know for sure there aren't any then I will use them on tanks. I also misunderstood you before, I have done that mission if it's one of the quick missions. I've managed it more than once without rearming. I don't know if it was the east georgia one but there essentially the same mission if I remember correctly. I used my usual tactic, gun for tanks and trucks, rockets for infantry, bombs for bridges and mavericks for nasty threats. RodBorza Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Psit, This Instant Action Easy Georgia Spring is a very good mission to learn and relearn all the Hogs weapons and modes of employment. I've lost count of how many times I did that mission just to learn. There are two good videos on You Tube by 636castle showing his tactics for that mission. Check-them here (Part1): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8kZE_qPjQU and here (Part 2): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhcadmDT5fk This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly: YouTube: SloppyDog

Love DC A10 Warthog you don't change the way of weapon employment by the master mode button (if I'm not mistaking this is what the button is called, where you can change modes from gun/ccrp/ccip) but instead by changing the mode in the corresponding DSMS menu belonging to the specific weapon, in your case gbu-12. The jdams can only be employed in ccrp, this is why it works without making a change in the firstplace

I think he just forgot to set up his GBU-12 profile so that it defaulted to CCRP, like you said. On the ground I always set up GBU-12's profile into CCRP with auto lase turned on at 12 seconds. AgentD Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 What's the reasoning behind the Laser guided bombs being set to CCIP by default? I always have to modify the profile to CCRP too. I believe CCIP is the default release mode for any weapon capable of both CCIP and CCRP. LGBs are capable of being dropped in CCIP but JDAMS are not hence the default being CCRP? BTTW-DratsaB Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) Hi AgentD, welcome to the Forum. I guess I should ask why would a laser guided bomb be dropped in CCIP mode. Thinking about it, my guess is so you could still use it with out the laser. eg through cloud or bad weather? Perhaps I'm incorrect by associating release mode with guidance mode. They are independent of each other? EG it would be normal enough to drop and LGB in CCIP mode? As soon as I think PGM is start thinking CCRP Edited May 3, 2011 by BTTW-DratsaB Specs: GA-Z87X-UD3H, i7-4770k, 16GB, RTX2060, SB AE-5, 750watt Corsair PSU, X52, Track IR4, Win10x64. AgentD Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Hi and thanks :) Hi AgentD, welcome to the Forum. They are independent of each other? EG it would be normal enough to drop and LGB in CCIP mode? As soon as I think PGM is start thinking CCRP Yep, that's how I see it. Release mode is entirely independent of any post release guidance. You can indeed drop GBUs in CCIP, and then still lase them in. JDAMs for whatever reason will only do CCRP. i7 950 @ 4ghz // 12gb 1600 Corsair Dominator GT3 @ 1800 // evga FTW3 // evga GTX570 // evga 9800GTX+ (PhysX) // Corsair Pro Series 750W // Corsair H70 // 3x 20" 5/4 iiyama // Saitek cyborg 3d :(

kharne Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 This is probably a stupid question, but how do you drop to LGB's back to back? I thought you would have to lase each one all the way to impact (or a good bit at least) so I don't understand how you could drop a second before the first one hits. Can someone explain that to me please? Thanks :) Also, I have been dropping LGB's that are set to CCIP by default by switching the master mode to CCRP. They have worked fine so far.
genbrien Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 (edited) you can drop multiple LGB(gbu-10/12) at the same time(not sure if you can drop more than 2 at once though....), but they will lase and impact the same target.
