In my experience rolling during startup has always been attributable to a tailwind component. Hangers / shelters do not seem to block wind. Letting the plane roll and turning cross wind always corrects it; that is, applying breaks and letting go the plane will stay put.

Yeah, in one of the missions I have the issue a lot. Where if I don't constantly apply my brakes, the plane will creep forward. Not fast, it's hardly even noticeable(the EGI will continue to align properly), but it does do it, which is annoying.

Also, not sure if it is related, but I did have an issue a while back where my aircraft would turn hard left on startup if the right engine was engaged first. There was no way to correct this, as I could not stop it with brakes, and the NWS being turned on seemingly had no effect as the wheel would not turn in the direction it was being told. The solution was to always start the left engine first.

On a side note, does anyone know how to enable the little red box in the corner where it shows you your axis'?

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

Should be Right CTRL + Enter.

Thanks for the correction paulrkiii, I didn't know that.

With single missions or campaign, I've been using the W key and pause, then unpause. Fixes it every time and it's quick. I just make a habit of doing it when I start startup. I haven't had the problem online but if I did, I wonder if it would work. Even if there is no pause.

The left hydraulics power the brakes, so if you start the right engine first you'll have to pull the emergency brake handle. Most checklists suggest starting the left first.

thankfully, 108 will have a handbrake/chocks

Can't find anything about that in the changelog. Though it may change, I don't think it will have some thing like that.

I would prefer chocks that are automatically removed when getting the taxi-to-runway permission.

The emergency brake lever currently implented switches the wheel brakes from the left hydraulic channel to the emergency accumulators, as explained by paulrkiii on page 2.

I saw the mention of an 'emergency handbrake' in the prelim changelog that jeffyd123 refers to, but also noticed it was removed when I went to look again. So I guess they've changed their minds, or it's been pushed back.

guys... what difference does it make seriously... the programmers are busy enough and we need a way to stop the planes from rolling.

Dont whine about losing your immersion so much... its a keystroke whether its chocks or a brake. dont whine at the programmers for adding more functionality. its not like they're forcing labels on us.

If you have a Logitech keyboard with the macro thinger dealy, simply set up two macros - one that *only* has a 'W down' and one that has 'W up'. You can do this by recording a macro and just pushing W once, then deleting the offending key.

Bam, chocks.

You can also do this with one key by setting it with the standard 'W down' 'W up' bind and putting it on a toggle repeat, but that *does* mean it's spamming W up and down so it might not brake as effectively, whereas the other two-button solution means W is always held down.

Hi Bahger , i have a CH fighterstick (Pro Throttle and Pedals too) and the one way i resolved this problem was to set wheel brakes to the roller axis on the left side base of the stick, the right and rear axis rollers are obviously pre set for pitch/roll so the would not suffice , but the left side roller works well for me( i have a glitch in my pedals that wont allow me to use one of the toe brakes any more they are after all about 10 years old now,so i have done this to fix the problem. When i perform start up or engine run up the jet sits still for me until im ready , good luck ,just an option

For single player you can hold W, pause the game, release W then unpause the game. This will keep the brake locked.

I'm for new radio request form the ground crew to remove or set the chocks

I submitted this as a feature request a while back, the developers are aware of it.

Aye. It's not quite as easy a change to make as most though, since it requires studio-time for the related voice recordings.

W/Pause/Unpause just comes naturally to me at startup now. Don't see what all the fuss is about.

Yes ... I understand that.

Just remembered I saw this one and thought "hey I hope the Voice actor came to the studio for more then one radio message" :smilewink::

Boarding ladder now can be extended from the cockpit by the dedicated switch. To stow the ladder, use the “Stow boarding ladder” radio command in Ground Crew radio submenu.

That's what I do too (although usually only if I start to creep, normally the jet stays put), but it's obviously not possible in MP.

I've found that if you enable Nose Wheel Steering prior to starting the engines the hawg moves around far less.
