214th_Silverfox Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 After reading the forums it would seem that no movement is being made to pursue an FA-18 flyable addon for Lock On FC. From what I have read ED does not have enough info to begin such a project. I for one would love to see this addition. Giving the balance of using naval operations and the use of a sophisticated Air to Ground capability makes me sweat with the thought of the possibilities. After discussing the issue with a flying buddy of mine he is willing to help by providing all the information you would need (with some restrictions). He knows the F-18 inside and out and would help you any way he could. Silverfox Silverfox VMF-214 http://patuxent-rugby.com/blacksheep/index.php
britgliderpilot Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Information on the Hornet? Let ED know, by all means . . . . they have a policy of collecting everything they can even if they don't immediately plan to use it. Sure your friend's knowledge would come in very handy for that :) What is really needed, though, isn't memories and descriptions - it's documents and flight manuals. It's still unlikely that we'll see a Hornet flyable at any point in the near future - the next three projects are the Ka50 (another addon to Lomac), an F16, and an advanced MiG29 of some variety. These two are planned for "a future project", which will be based on Lomac's code . . . . but will be an entirely new game. Long wait. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Guest Cali Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Well like you said there has be nothing said about adding the F-18 in the game. That would make it more balanced out, and their are tons of people that would love to see it added! But will they do it.......
214th_Silverfox Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 As I stated he knows the aircraft and all its systems and capabilities from top to bottom. Hopefully ED will consider it. Dont get me wrong I love the F-16 and have over 1000 hours in Falcon but the F-18 is much more deminsional and would be perfect for this game. ED Team Wags Posted July 27, 2005 ED Team Posted July 27, 2005 Quite correct. While an SME would be nice, having the TAC manual would be required. -Matt Information on the Hornet? 214th_Silverfox Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 I will talk to him tonight and see if he would be willing to submit a TAC manual for your use. I will let you know ASAP. Silverfox VMF-214 http://patuxent-rugby.com/blacksheep/index.php
GGTharos Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Yes, the next addon is the Ka-50 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
ED Team Wags Posted July 28, 2005 ED Team Posted July 28, 2005 Sounds good. The team already has the 12/2001 NATOPS, so they would still need the A1-F18AC-TAC-010. However, this is generally classified as a S/NF document. As such, he'd have to find a declass version. Thanks, Matt I will talk to him tonight and see if he would be willing to submit a TAC manual for your use. I will let you know ASAP. Guest ThomasDWeiss Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 so, the next addon is a Ka50? I am baffled. I was kind of hoping it would be the Sopwith Camel. . . . . just kidding. :D
214th_Silverfox Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 That would be correct Matt. All the manuals he has located at the moment do not meet the export status. He is still looking for somthing that would meet protocol. Will keep you posted. Silverfox VMF-214 http://patuxent-rugby.com/blacksheep/index.php
Dmut Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I was kind of hoping it would be the Sopwith Camel. . . . . just kidding. :D It was told a thousand times - ED don't have TAC nor even NFM for "Sopwith Camel MkIV-70v0 A/F" :D:D:D "There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." SUBS17 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 so, the next addon is a Ka50? I am baffled. Don't worry, alot of us all thought the same thing with the 25T but it was well worth it. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
609_Recon Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Maybe I am missing something - are we looking at a non-jet flight sim addon then? I guess when I think Lomac I think jets, I was baffled because I didn't realize there was much demand for a non-jet in the jet sim community. Just strikes me as odd I guess, or maybe I'm the odd one - lol - I just picture the time invested in Ka50 could have been a new flyable jet instead :) edit: "Don't worry, alot of us all thought the same thing with the 25T but it was well worth it." Well, maybe, but the 25T is a great addition as a ground pounder :)
Dmut Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 well, Ka-50 IS more jet then F-16 - it has 2 "GTE Klimov рV3-117VMA" jet engines while Viper got only one "F100-PW-200" or "F110-GE-129" :D:D:D just kidding... Ice Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 There was an F18 (Ex-Blue angels) for sale on E-Bay not that long ago. Did anyone here buy it? If so can you check in the glove box you might find that manual.

Its not jets. ;) they are gas turbines, not the same as jet engines. Helicopter gas turbines do not provide much of a thrust, instead they provide plenty of power from torque obtained through the means of gears that are activated by the turbines rotation. .
ED Team Olgerd Posted July 28, 2005 ED Team Posted July 28, 2005 That would be correct Matt. All the manuals he has located at the moment do not meet the export status. He is still looking for somthing that would meet protocol. Will keep you posted. Mmm... may be some parts of the manual? Even some pictures scans would be very usefull. The correct word is turboshaft, they add alot more power than the earlier engines. They also make good motorbike engines. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]

Guest ruggbutt Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 And think about some of the terrain fixes and adjustments they'll be doing for the chopper addon. Maybe low LOD's for more objects, which (hopefully) would help w/better framerates.
