Yap, thats why I would happily pay at least two times the price. And that's the reason why I bought Blackshark even though I never fly that thing. ;)

The epitome of awesome.

I think not. ;)

Viper, it's not hardcore enough for Mr. Mower :D FC3 would be awesome if they did do it. It would be extra cash for them :)

Same here with A-10C. I never fly A-10C but I bought it to support ED and the overall cause of this hobby.

He is just trying to keep the hardcore image. He secretly flies FC2 everyday in the public servers.

So how much player we have today online playing everyday and which server is the most popular? Is it bigger or smaller number? I know i have left the game. I am wondering because there are lot of new patches, games(DCS++etc.)after FC2 release, much cash you need just to play the basic game, or i am wrong? Is it enough to play the game online today just with the FC2 and his patch?

We have as same playing players as we had previously in LO1. Maybe the number is higher...

Don't know about what money you're talking about but you need FC 2 to play FC2. There is no any patch you have to pay for. ;]

I believe his secret alias is 1337PwnageRager.

For those in the know he constantly performs cartwheels of death, he also started the POWA calls and always asks 'is AWAX ON or AWAX OFF'. :P

Well, IL2 has more servers, not necessarily more pilots per server, very few servers are running consistently with more than 30 players online which is the number found also on main FC2 servers.

But yeah would have been interesting to see how big FC/DCS community is atm trough a lobby like HL. I bet it got way bigger than during FC1 era.

Hint (ED forums Record) : Most users ever online was 702, 03-22-2011 at 03:01 PM....not bad :D

I wish it was more along the lines of the EVE Online forums or WoW Forums where you rarely see less than 20,000 people on the forums at a time.

I remember in HL1 era there were about 1000 people in lobby.... where in LO I've seen about 60-80-100 :P

This is huge difference ^^

Games like that will always have more people, a few reasons are;

more nerds

easier to start, no need to buy all sorts of extra things

more nerds

more nerds

flight sims you have to use your brain

maybe faster pace in fps and wow games

and more nerds :D

You'd actually be surprised in the case of EVE, that most of the people that play are actually very similar in personality tho those that fly in sims. I suspect the main reason is that EVE requires you to use your brain in order to not die. In fact, when I went to Iceland(CCP's EVE Online Fanfest), most of the people I met there were, much to my surprise, pretty much normal people. Though again, the nervewrackingly slow pace of that game requires a decent amount of patience, and therefore maturity, in order to not die/get extremely bored.

Though a do suspect that one of the things that stops a lot of people from playing sims is as you said, the high cost of entry into the field; trying to compete with people who have HOTAS Warthogs, TIR 5's, and rudder pedals. Also the relatively high difficulty towards any simmer, whether he be initiated or not, makes people question whether or not the time spent learning an airframe is worth it or not. This can be likely solved through the use of a system that allows for a hybridization of the current "game" and "sim" modes. Where the physical aircraft controls would remain complex, and the aircraft dynamics would not change, but instead a number of target finding, and weapons employment helpers could be added to sort of ease out the rough edges for people that do not have the time or patience to commit; though I feel that this is a comment for another thread.
