Snoopy
The reason is you don't need the EGI to fly, if for some reason you needed to start up and go you don't want it to default to a system that isn't up and ready to go. HARS doesn't need any time to warm up. v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website | v303rd Fighter Group Twitter
BlueRidgeDx
That, and it's simply not possible to select EGI until the system is initialized and aligned to a certain minimum level of accuracy. So upon powerup, it MUST default to something else until the EGI is available. "They've got us surrounded again - those poor bastards!" - Lt. Col. ED Team Olgerd Posted June 4, 2011 ED Team Share Posted June 4, 2011 Ok, I have now modified my personal startup procedure which seems to work fine and gets me in the air much faster. Basically, it's: Batt on ... Pitot heat on May not be 100% correct, but it works for me. Main generators should be turned on after engines started. Not before. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] К чему стадам дары свободы? Их должно резать или стричь. Наследство их из рода в роды Ярмо с гремушками да бич. I was confused 'cuz logic says to turn generators after engine start-up but some YT tutorials show it doesn't matter really.
Laud
I also remember a few month back there were some tuts and/or vids, saying the gens are to set to on, prior to engine start. In the Airbus A319 I know, it is working both ways, as it's using centrifugal clutches, bringing the generators on, once a certain core-rpm is reached. But fine, when you say that's how it's done in RL then we'll gonna do it that way! :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus ROG STRIX Z390-F Gaming, Intel Core i7 9700k , 32gb Corsair DDR4-3200 Asus RTX 2070 super, Samsung 970 EVO Plus M2, Win10 64bit, Acer XZ321QU (WQHD) TM HOTAS Warthog, SAITEK Rudder Pedals, TIR

ED Team Olgerd Posted June 4, 2011 ED Team Share Posted June 4, 2011 It looks like I was wrong actually. Per -1: 'c. AC generator switches (L and R) -As required. Snoopy
Van be started but us crew chiefs have those and the boost pump switches in the ON position before the pilot steps to the jet. FTI the C model -1 says the same as the A on this as well. v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website | v303rd Fighter Group Twitter
lobo
Main generators should be turned on after engines started. Not before. :) Is this something that changed from the A to the C version? The 1A-10A-1 has you selecting the AC gens to PWR before eng start... (oh I see your post above Olgerd) Also is it normal not to have power to the radios until the APU is started? (I've got no squelch until APU is running) Thanks Edited June 4, 2011 by lobo** Lobo's DCS A-10C Normal Checklist & Quick Reference Handbook current version 8D available here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/172905/
Laud
Look at your Dash-1! Figure FO-5 "Electrical System and Power Distribution". UHF and VHF radios are connected to Right DC Bus. That means yes, you need APU GEN, External Power or ENG GEN. Same applies to Intercom. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] К чему стадам дары свободы? Их должно резать или стричь. Наследство их из рода в роды Ярмо с гремушками да бич. Snoopy
Correct, UHF works off the battery only. Any time we tow an acft and cross red into an active taxiway we have to maintain contact with ground control and we do it with the UHF radio. v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website | v303rd Fighter Group Twitter

Laud
Thanks for putting it right! I noticed two UHF entries in the diagram. One at DC Essential and one at Right DC. Wasn't sure which of them was finally responsible for the system to be working. CarneyUK
1.1.0.7 uses the old way so EGI is default, and the new 1.1.0.8 HARS is default. So theis only relates to the new 1.1.0.8 version.
